We are in the midst of a sunny and hot holiday weekend (4th of July) in hot and VERY BUGGY Minnesota. I neglected to apply it to my shins for the kayaking event, and I was sunburned below the knees (my bad planning, as I was expecting a different kayak design than we rented and the opening exposed my lower legs to the sun). Bug deterrant is a #1 conversation here, where the mosquitoes can strip you of at least 10 pounds of unwanted (along with your essential) flesh per hour if you are not slathered in DEET and gasping for breath and dying along with the bugs you hope to deter. Another advantage is being able to carry just one bottle instead of two or three on your outdoor excursions. Our friends and companions, who did not work with this lotion, were ravaged by bugs early and had to run, screaming and swatting, to the house in retreat as soon as the sun set. We used this lotion at the onset of each day's activities and it seemed to work adequately for very a lot of hours without a need to re-apply, even though we were playing on or in water all day, every day. If the packaging was produced from renewable resources and employed renewable energy for manufacturing, plus if the bottle was 100% bio-degradable, I would rate the product a 10 and would acquire stock in the company. I did not have sunburn anywhere that I applied the lotion. It rubs on smoothly and seems to absorb and stay on without a mess, even though you will be able to feel it on your skin until you shower it off. We were not aware of any side effects of using it, although we are both somewhat have a sensitivity to robust odors or scents, and we would give this a 5 if it had much less odor. I am thinking that this might be a good gift to acquire for our friends. They were applying lotions, one or the other, throughout the day. Is anybody listening? Anyway, after several days and evening in the excellent outdoors, after using this Avon lotion, I was delivered away with only TWO bug bites, and I think my partner (who also employed this Avon lotion), had none. A smaller 'hole' design in the bottle that could be clipped on with a compact caribeaner (spelling??) would have been fine. Most importantly, combining lotion functions into fewer lotions uses less planetary resources and creates less pollution than producing only one-function lotions. That said, the smell of this lotion is much less offensive than other bug sprays that have made me sick in my lifetime. THAT is probably why we made it through the weekend with less sunburn and bug bites than our friends. The lotion was uncomplicated to carry and did not come unopened when tossed about. You have to shake the bottle to mix the ingredients before applying. The next day and night, when playing at a private lake outside the Twin Cities, the bugs were more plentiful than I have (almost) ever seen, probably due to an excessively wet season here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. We participated in numerous outdoor activities with our friends, from kayaking the chain of gorgeous lakes inside Minneapolis, to spending a day on a pontoon on a private lake with other groups.

This stuff is awesome. My family will go through several cans of bugspray to my 2 squirts of Picaridin. So I'm on here buying another quart as I don't want to run out.I got some affordable rubber gloves from Harbor Freight that I've started wearing when I put on the cream so I'm not eating it off my fingers later in the day. We obtained some waterfront land on the ocean in Va. The last trip out they finally realized that bugspray indeed kinda sucks. I even rub a little through my hair. I utilize maybe 2 1/2 squirts of the pump to cover my feet, legs, arms, neck and head. $50 for a quart that could last you years as opposed to an $8 can of OFF that will last 1 person a couple days at finest and that is assuming you use it up before it dries up on its own, unused.That's it. If you get into the outdoors a lot, obtain a quart. It lasts rather much all day, except the mosquitoes will get me through my shirt later in the day because the DEET will wear off. Getting in the water will deminish it's effectiveness but I think it sticks on to you improved than spray without a doubt. This stuff also dries rapidly, the feeling of it on your skin is much more agreeable than bugspray and it doesn't smell nearly as inferior.Mosquitoes entirely hate it. You need to put it on favor sunscreen but it doesn't take that much. Full disclosure, I was the only one in my family that had been using it as everyone else is lazy. I'm 6'-2" and 240lbs. I spray my shirt with some form of DEET before I put it on. You can't just spray yourself real quick and be done. That's it. The tick, mosquito, fly and gnat populations in this area are insane. They can still be pretty annoying if you are fishing at night as they'll swarm and tickle you but they do the same with all the other repellants. I despise ticks especially since one gave a try to kill me by infecting me with tick fever when I was 5 years old and another gave my son Lymes Disease and put him in intensive care when he was also 5. I'm still using the same quart in 2024. I started looking for another solution and in 2021 I obtained 1 quart of this Picaridin cream. In my opinion, and I think I would know, it is more effective, last longer, feels cleaner and is way more reasonably priced then the other altermatives. I've watched them turn complete 180's as soon as they make contact with me. Both of us were sent to John's Hopkins as 5 year olds as of ticks.I also hate bugspray. You won't regret it. It's pricey, the cans of spray don't last long sufficient and if you leave them sit they'll eventually become empty on their own so stocking up doesn't help much. It is solid stuff. Gnats will land on you but they will not bite. It repels chiggers and ticks excellent but if you are spending time in the places I do, you still need to check your underwear band and the other nooks and crannies down in that area where you didn't apply anything.The deal this stuff brings is undeniable. It doesn't wash off genuinely effortless which is a decent thing, especially if you are a sweater or get in the water. and have an off-grid camp set up while we slowly build and upgrade the property into our eventual retirement house/farm.

I had low-medium expectations for this item. No ticks, mosquitos, gnats or flies buzzing around my face and ankles. Superb price. A win-win. Not this! As most insect repellants have a foul odor, and sting the skin. I worked with it for camping this summer. It functions, is pleasant to employ and wear. It is creamy, slightly watery like a skin care article, absorbs nicely and doesn't have an overpoweringly strong smell. Also, most will leave either a sticky or greasy residue. Why?
