It did really help with food cravings, and I thought it might also help with weight loss. I was very slim by nature, and weight loss was not an issue. Now I am dealing with several health issues that are thought to benefit from ALA. I do have peripheral neuropathy which is really improved due to high quality powdered vitamin supplements. I have the beginnings of cataracts in both eyes, which also seem to be slowed/ improved by my supplements. Several years ago I started to develop a thickening middle and abdominal fat despite the fact that I was eating healthier than ever and always did like to get exercise. Yes you read that correctly... I won't even open the package anymore after a few doses of this ALA... I take many Bulk Supplements products and love them, but this is beyond nasty-smelling, and the taste is horrible... You have been warned.Side note: I used to put my supplements into my coffee, but now I get a drink from Speedway, also called 7/11... I get their brand knock off of Gatorade Zero... They all taste great to me but the lemon lime one is best for hiding the flavors of many Supplement powders... In the moring I take about 9 powdered supplements at one time and put a small amount of the drink in the cup to cover the powders then shoot it down quickly and it hides all of the flavors without a problem... yet this ALA I took it alone with the drink and I just couldn't do it... plus this stuff burns if any of the powder touches your mouth...

ALA is supposed to be yellow, and this one has the bright color and unique smell that ALA is supposed to have. I put this into capsules because I know from the smell I don't want to taste it. Much has been written about the efficacy of ALA as an antioxidant that is both fat and water soluble, and Dr. Nicholas Perricone writes about its importance in his books, both for topical and internal use. I keep some of it in a small jar in my bathroom so I can add a pinch of it into my serums before bedtime. The unique smell keeps me from doing this in the morning, and do not get it in your eyes because it stings. It may sting your skin a little depending on how much you add, but to me it's minor, much less than a strong AHA would sting. It may be low-tech but at least some of it seems to be getting into the skin, and it helps with the overall appearance of the skin.
