I started taking hmb almost 2 years ago, after reading about its benefits for elderly people. I am a 63 year old female. And I can vouch for the fact that it actually does help maintain muscle mass! I started a workout program almost 2 years ago after I found that I had become very weak, and couldn't do things easily I used to be able to do. The one thing that bothered me the most was that I could not squat down to the ground and get back up! After 18 months of working with various things including a kettlebell, dumbbells, and exercise ball, a step, and a mini trampoline, I regained considerable amount of strength and stamina, and I could once again squat to the ground and get back up. I can also lift a 50 lb bag of chicken feed , or a 40 lb bag of softener salt , which I couldn't do prior to this. During this time I was taking hmb also. Then I got covid twice within 6 weeks, and couldn't work out. And then right after that came a big emotional event in my life followed by the holiday season! So, for about 6 months I totally slacked off on my exercising. However, well I did lose stamina, and a bit of muscle, I was able to maintain my ability to lift 50 lb bags easily, and squat to the ground and get back up. I attribute this 100% to my daily intake of HMB powder! This is One supplement, that at my age, I will never stop taking!!I buy this brand because it is in bulk, and it is the best value around! There's nothing added to it, which I consider to be very important.Update 6/24/26I continue to take HMB daily. This is one supplement that I will NEVER be without! Even when I back off my exercise program during the winter months in favor of yard work (FL), taking HMB maintains a significant amount of muscle strength. I will turn 66 in September. I have no problem carrying a full five gallon bucket of water, or forty pound bags of salt for the softener or chicken feed. I take a daily without fail! Muscle strength is incredibly important the older that you get. I also drink whey protein every single day of my life. The older you get, the more protein you need. Much more than when you were younger. If you're older like I am, do yourself a favor and add HMB to your daily routine. It'll pay you back 10 fold in retained muscle strength!! If you want to increase muscle strength, do some simple strength exercises also.

This is the first HMB product that I have purchased that was not already in capsules. Being able to measure out an amount is both liberating and worrisome since spills can occur.One negative comment I have is that the product does not seal very well, and that is due to the powdery nature of the HMB interfering with the pressing seal. That does not affect the product's potency or effectiveness and should be listed under product packaging.I have only used this product for five days as of the time of this review. It mixes well with hot oatmeal. My initial attempts at taking it measured onto a spoon and chasing it with a drink almost ended disastrously. It does not have a taste. Mixing with a spoon into a liquid did not work well, with the product staying together on top of the mixed protein. Again, I must note that the product mixed completely into the oatmeal I made and was tasteless.The cost of the HMB is fantastic. A month's supply of Met-Rx costs more than the 250 grams I purchased, and this will last 83 days taken as directed. Once I have used the HMB, I will update to note any alterations to my physique and whether I will purchase again. As of now, the initial effects of the HMB are, like all HMB I have ever tried, difficult to note. HMB is a "marathon" supplement that does not give immediate drug-like effects like, well, dianabol will.

I decided to purchase hmb from BulkSupplements because it was less expensive than Muscletech's version of hmb called Clear Muscle. I was purchasing Clear Muscle from Walmart for a little over $20. At recommend dose the bottle is only a one week supply. Half the time they didn't have it in stock which makes taking it consistently a problem, and like with most supplements, consistency with hmb is key. Vitaminshoppe sells Clear Muscle with a month's supply for $80. I bought the 250 gram bag of hmb from BulkSupplements for less than $20 and at the same dosage as Clear Muscle, this will last me close to 3 months.BulkSupplement's gave me the same results as Clear Muscle - better recovery, added strength and endurance in the gym and when running, and helped preserve pump and muscle - but for way less $ for way more product.The only downside to BulkSupplements hmb powder over Clear Muscle is that BulkSupplement is a powder and Clear muscle is a pill. Therefore you have to deal with a nasty taste compared to none. Also, you are supposed to dose hmb 3 times a day - one in morning, one in afternoon, one in evening. That makes the pills more convenient when you aren't at home at those times. However both of these downsides can be solved with a pill capsule machine. They are cheap and easy to use. I just suck it up and do the good old toss and wash - put a flavored liquid in your mouth, tilt your head back then drop the scoop of powder in the back of your throat and swallow!

I've been using BulkSupplements HMB and overall I'm very happy with the product itself. It mixes well, seems high quality, and I've noticed it helps with recovery and reducing soreness, especially after tougher workouts. It's a straightforward supplement without a lot of unnecessary extras, which I like. A more durable container or improved seal would definitely make a difference.Overall, the product delivers on performance and value. If they upgraded the packaging, it would be close to perfect.
