I bought this product for my teenage type 1 diabetic son. He needed independence and this gives peace of mind. It does not leak! I read a review stating it leaks. After recharging with water and only while it's wet in the water their may be a very slight film on the water. It's likely from the gel beads, but to claim it leaks is ridiculous. It's much better to chatge every 2 to 3 days if you're going to use it continuously. My son often forgets to recharge with water and the beads get dried out if you do this. This little bag is amazing! It keeps 2 pens perfectly (unless you overcharge!) If you do overcharge be sure to put medication in with the lid on top sliding pen in with counterpart first. This way you don't have to try and get a lid out! This only happens that the fit is too tight if you leave in water too long. The learning curve isn't that hard. I'd recommend using a timer. Start with 2 minutes per side in cold water and continue flipping until product feels full. It will literally puff up! First time or after not using for a while takes longer to charge. Love this little thing! Now if only they made them specifically for epipens!Not to people who don't understand the concept os this bag, it keeps your medication at room temp! Once insulin is removed from fridge for use this is recommended! Nobody wants to put refrigerated insulin in their body! It can hurt/sting. Also remember it's perfectly safe to store your insulin at room temperature and use for 28 days! Some people write reviews complaining this product doesn't keep their child's insulin at 45 degrees. It seems they don't understand that's just when refrigerating for long term storage that u have a max temp of 46. Personally I keep our insulin in a seperate mini fridge and store around 40°. Recommend Temps are 36° to 46° F or between 2-8°C. That's for long term storage!!!This Frio wallet is for daily storage at room temperatures! Room temperature storage is between 59° to 86° F or 15° to 30°C . This keeps it perfectly in that sweet spot even when in the heat when used properly! Sweet spot being 20-25°C or 68-77°F! Incredible product.

Keeps insulin cool, though not exactly cold. (Maybe add an ice cube or two to athe water during the preparatory soak?). Very easy to use. Does not dampen the other contents of your pocket or purse.

UPDATE We just returned from a 5 week trip. In the car between hotels the unit held temps wonderful and it was simple to carry. I presented it to them indicating what it was for and offered to open for them both declined and let us pass through screening with it. Fantastic shopper assistance is huge when dealing with something favor this that affects your health. The unit performed excellent through full trip and allowed me to travel worry free. We left it plugged in to the wall outlet at each hotel and never took a chance in rein in chamber refrigeration. A few random notes. We left the unit plugged in to the 20ma battery pack that matches into the ouch on the carrier and had in excess of 10 hrs of Power each time. Before we left I place a medical grade temperature probe and the the unit performed exceptionally. When we returned I wrote the firm and they very promptly replaced the entire lid unit. All in all incredibly content and I was free to travel with no worries about my medication. I have attached a print out form that. That's a game changer for us. TSA and British Security both had no issues with this in carryon. However in fact a slap to the unit would resolve the drag and it did not lose temperature control. Not sure how much longer it would have gone as we didn't take the chance. The only issue we encountered was a fan sticking or perhaps Bering concern. I have used Frio cooling cases for years and they work really well. They are made to keep insulin cool but will NOT keep anything cold, at refrigerator temperature nor frozen. Insulin is supposed to be stored long-term in a refrigerator but an open bottle or pen should be kept at room temperature or slightly cooler. Frio cases use evaporation and work perfectly for this purpose.If you don't follow the directions the case won't keep anything cool so I will do a quick re-cap of the directions for anyone who might have lost their directions.Remove the inner case from the Velcro-close outer cover. Place the inner pouch into a sink and fill the sink with enough water to cover the pouch. Allow it to absorb water until it is nice and puffy but not rigid, usually about 10 minutes. I don't set a timer but just check it after a few minutes. If it gets too rigid you can gently squeeze it to remove some of the water. Drain the water from the sink and let the pouch sit for a few minutes, then wipe lightly with a towel. Place the insulin or pens into the soaked pouch and put all of that into the cover. This will NOT leak! DO NOT put it into a Ziploc bag or other plastic.The really important thing to remember is that this works by evaporation so air needs to get to the pouch. I keep mine in a loosely packed tote bag or a purse, or on the car seat. Don't pack it into a suitcase or tightly closed bag because it won't work. I'm not sure if this will work on hot summer days when I need to leave my insulin in a closed-up car for several hours so I will put the whole thing into a cooler with some ice packs. The padded pouch protects the insulin from freezing against the ice packs.I have never had one of these stop working so I don't know how long they can last. I usually end up losing mine and having to buy a new one.
