I have combination skin, so I am always trying to find the balance between enough hydration and not ending up with a moisturizer that makes me look shiny two hours later. This Murad Calm & Recover Cream is a really nice middle ground.The texture is lightweight and sinks in quickly, which is probably my favorite thing about it. It gives my skin enough hydration to feel comfortable after retinol, but it does not leave behind that heavy, coated feeling some barrier creams have. It also has more of a soft matte finish, which I really appreciate because retinol can sometimes make my forehead look oddly shiny even when it is not actually oily.The formula makes sense for breakout-prone skin too. Niacinamide and tranexamic acid are nice additions if you are dealing with the uneven tone and leftover marks that can hang around after acne. I am not expecting a moisturizer to erase post-acne marks overnight, but I like having those ingredients in a daily product that is already doing something I need anyway. The GABA is also a nice touch for calming the skin when it feels a little stressed or irritated.It feels especially good for combination or oily skin that still needs real moisture. A lot of lightweight moisturizers go too far in the other direction and leave my skin feeling like it needs another layer underneath. This one feels hydrating enough to use as the last step of a PM routine, but still light enough that I could see it working well during the day under sunscreen.Overall, this is a really good moisturizer for anyone with combination, oily, sensitive, or breakout-prone skin who still needs more serious hydration from a retinol routine. It is lightweight, calming, hydrating, and the matte finish is a big plus if you are tired of moisturizers making your face look shiny. I had never tried this brand before & didn't know what to expect but WOW am I IMPRESSED! I have extremely sensitive skin and really struggle with redness and dryness, as I live in a dry climate. As of late, I have really been struggling with my skin and had been looking for anything to help! Some products I have tried made it worst so I have been hesitant but I am so glad I tried this!When I apply it to my skin, my skin does not burn which is so big! My skin doesn't immediately turn bright red, either, which is great. I have a ton of dryness around my nose which is more sensitive, and again, I had no negative reaction applying this. It blended super well and felt cooling on my skin. I wake up in the morning, I had NO flaking skin and NO redness. This was huge as this is a first! I am so happy!My skin is so moisturized and its helping so much! Really does calm and balance out the skin and I cannot recommend it more! WORTH EVERY PENNY!

It has a lightweight texture, absorbs well, and layers well with toner and serum underneath too. I always use sunscreen on top if I'm going out. I've been using it for a few days trying it on a spot I recently picked and I do feel like I've noticed some improvement in the darkness of the spot. I'm really impressed overall! I'm definitely going to keep using it on occasion on problem areas. I'd recommend it if you're an adult with acne.
