SAMYAM Gotu Kola Powder Centella Asiatica Pure Leaf Herbal Supplement For Memory Support And Calm 200g Pack

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I am pleased with this product. It mixes well in liquids- hot or cold. It has a mild earthy taste, so I will be taking it with a flavored beverage as opposed to just water. It came in a generous sized bag. It's a good value for the money.

I use this for skin and hair masks because it is good for skin and hair growth. I did not ingest it, but it worked well for my purposes.

This is a finely milled Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) powder offered in a 200g bag, manufactured by Pipad Agro Foods Private Limited and marketed under the SAMYAM brand. It is priced at $7.99 per 200g, or about 32 cents per typical 2g serving (1-2 tsp). Whether that qualifies as "affordable" depends on the buyer's income and health priorities-32 cents per serving isn't trivial over long-term daily use, but it's far below the price-per-dose of many supplements in capsules or tinctures.Gotu Kola is a well-known herb in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, used for its reported benefits on cognition, mood regulation, and microcirculation. Some clinical studies suggest mild improvements in attention, anxiety reduction, and wound healing when consumed regularly, but effects vary and are usually modest. Users expecting sharp or immediate cognitive enhancement may not find that here. The product is pure powder-no excipients, sweeteners, or capsules. This allows flexible dosing and integration into drinks or food, but also makes taste and texture a challenge for some. It's non-GMO and vegan, which matters to ethically conscious consumers, but no organic certification is listed. No mention of third-party testing for heavy metals or pesticides appears in the listing, which may be relevant for safety, especially in powdered herbs sourced from abroad. In terms of versatility, the product is highly flexible for formulation, but limited in flavor compatibility. No added functionality (like adaptogen blends or co-factors) is provided. As a raw herb, its use assumes the consumer knows what they're doing with it.Durability: Powder in a resealable bag is standard. No desiccant packet included. If exposed to air or moisture, potency or safety could degrade over time. Shelf life isn't specified.Compared with other Gotu Kola products on the market:Capsules are easier to use but often cost more per gram and include additives.Extracts may offer more concentrated effects but tend to be pricier and less flexible in dosing.SAMYAM's plain powder format is inexpensive, adaptable, and simple-but also demands more preparation and storage care.On eco-stewardship: The packaging appears to be a standard non-recyclable plastic bag. There's no indication of biodegradable packaging, minimal-waste shipping, or climate-conscious production practices. These factors may be concerning for environmentally committed users. As for the formulation, this is a single-ingredient product, so no complex formula applies. The powder is not standardized to any particular active compounds (e.g., asiaticoside), which means potency may vary batch to batch and is not guaranteed. No certificate of analysis (CoA) is cited.Medication interactions: Gotu Kola may interact with sedatives, anti-anxiety drugs, diuretics, and medications processed by the liver (e.g., anticonvulsants, some antidepressants). Liver enzyme modulation is a possible concern. Anyone using prescription meds should consult a pharmacist or licensed provider before starting it.Whole foods alternative? While Gotu Kola is technically edible as a leafy green in some cultures, it's not commonly available fresh in most regions, so powdered form may be the only viable option. However, for stress, concentration, and mood support, a diet rich in leafy greens, nuts, legumes, and seeds already provides meaningful cognitive and anti-inflammatory support, though not necessarily with the specific compounds found in Centella.Rating: 3.5 / 5 - Modestly affordable- Uncomplicated and plant-only- Limited oversight or testing transparency- Low-frills but flexible optionWhether it is "morally defensible" to say something positive about this product depends on the standards applied. If a product is plant-based, fairly priced, minimally processed, and marketed without exaggerated claims-it's arguably reasonable to describe its qualities accurately. The product doesn't overpromise, but it also doesn't stand out for innovation, rigorous sourcing, or ecological care.

i love this powder. i used it to make a glycerite extract. works amazing. very calming on the skin. i would definitely recommend it. great quality

Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) is a herb that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. It is believed to have a variety of benefits.I ordered this to use in a topical cream and baths to help with treating eczema. It's the last thing we're trying before we resort to a prescription. We're hoping it's effectiveness will keep us from that. $8 for a 200 gram bag is a great price. I did taste it, but since I've never tasted it before, I've no idea what it's supposed to taste like. It's not bad, just reminiscent of hay or dried cut grass.
