FAQs
How does a magnetic cat door work?
A magnetic cat door contains an internal locking mechanism that remains shut until a magnetic collar key approaches it. When your cat gets close, the magnet in the key releases the latch, allowing the flap to swing open for your pet while keeping other animals out.
Is there a cat door that only opens for cats?
Yes, collar-activated or microchip-based cat doors are designed to remain locked to all animals except those wearing the specific authorized magnetic key or registered microchip, preventing strays from entering.
How to demagnetize a cat door?
If your cat door is not functioning correctly, check for debris or misalignment. While most owners should not attempt to alter the magnetic components themselves, you can often reset the sensitivity according to the manufacturer's manual provided with your specific door model.
