Are scratch pads good for cats?
Yes, scratch pads are excellent for cats because they fulfill a natural instinct to groom claws, stretch muscles, and mark territory. Providing a dedicated scratcher helps keep their claws healthy while safely protecting your furniture from damage.
Should I put catnip on a scratching post?
Putting catnip on a scratching post or pad is highly recommended, especially during initial training. The natural scent acts as a powerful attractant that immediately draws your cat to the designated spot, making them more likely to use it instead of your sofa.
What is the best material for a cat scratch pad?
Corrugated cardboard is widely considered one of the best materials because its texture closely mimics tree bark, which cats naturally love. It provides excellent resistance for clawing while remaining safe and lightweight.
