In this state, composting is on the books, the law books. We can't put any food scraps, except for bones, in the regular garbage, but must put them in our own compost pile. If not, we have to take our scraps to a transfer station. These 13-gallon bags are biodegradable / compostable and perfect for my needs. They are made of a high-quality plant starch, most possibly PSM (corn starch). They will totally compost within 180 days instead of a thousand years. Usually, I get green bags for my composting, which let people working with them know it's biodegradable. I'm sure they are becoming familiar with a wide variety of bags. The "look" is distinctive and these are easily identifiable. I have several different types for my compost bins so am quite pleased to see the larger ones are now on the market. The star shaped seal lets me know they won't easily leak. They are pricey, but the cost of not using them is higher. These 13-gallon bags are 0.87 mils in thickness, but still can be easily punctured. It totally depends on what I put in the trash, but they aren't Flex bags by any means. I still have plastic on hand, but prefer to use these because I know they are heading to a large composting area. They are certified compostable by the BPI, Biodegradable Products Institute as well as TUV Austria.

These kitchen trash bags are strong and work just as well as major brand kitchen trash bags. What is better about these is they are 100% compostable. In 6-12 months, these trash bags are fully decomposed. The material is thick enough to where I have had no leaks at all. There are no straps or anything to tie off the bags, but that doesn't matter to me as I just tie the top in a knot. These 13 gallon trash bags work great in my kitchen.

We found these 13 gallon capacity compostable trash bags to be strong and durable, taking over (11) pounds of trash and not tearing. The bags measure 23.8" x 31.5", which equals a 49.2 Liter capacity. We found this to fit our tall kitchen trash can easily. The bags have a silky smooth texture and did not leak any liquid when pulled. The bags have no chemical smells or perfumes. The bags have no drawstring handles. We used these bags for commercial rather than a home landfill. Made from 100% compostable materials (compostable polyester and starch). We were pleasantly surprised in how much trash held without a tear.

Works great
These actually are amazing. Pretty sturdy and thick, hold a lot of trash. Wr are working hard to have a better foot print and these compostable bags are amazing. I'm glad I got them. Mine have not torn or fallen apart during filling the trash. And I've gotten them pretty heavy. Mine have held up really great.
