Description
The Big Mike's High-Power 500mm and 1000mm f/8 Manual Telephoto Lens brings distant subjects directly into clear view. Designed specifically for photography enthusiasts using Canon Digital SLR cameras, this ultra-telephoto lens is ideal for capturing elusive wildlife, crisp lunar landscapes, and remote architectural details.
The optical construction features multi-coated glass elements that reduce reflections, flare, and ghosting, resulting in optimized light transmission and contrast-rich photographs. The kit includes a specialized two times teleconverter that instantly doubles your reach from 500mm to an astounding 1000mm focal length, offering immense flexibility when shooting far-away subjects.
Operating entirely on a manual platform, this lens provides fixed f/8 aperture control and a precise manual focus ring, allowing photographers to have absolute artistic control over their alignment and exposure. It utilizes a versatile T-mount adapter system, ensuring secure physical attachment to compatible camera bodies.
Due to the extreme magnification, this heavy-duty manual lens is best paired with a sturdy tripod or monopod to ensure maximum stability and prevent unwanted camera shake during outdoor daylight sessions.
How to use
- Attach the included T-mount adapter to your Canon Digital SLR camera body.
- Thread the 500mm lens onto the adapter, adding the two times teleconverter between them if 1000mm focal length is desired.
- Switch your camera settings to Manual Mode or Aperture-Priority Mode.
- Turn off autofocus on your camera body and manually rotate the integrated lens focus ring until your distant subject appears perfectly sharp in the viewfinder.
- Secure the setup onto a heavy-duty tripod to eliminate hand vibration before clicking the shutter.

FAQs
Is the Canon EOS 80D full frame?
No, the Canon EOS 80D is an APS-C crop-sensor camera body rather than a full-frame camera. When using this 500mm and 1000mm manual lens on a crop-sensor camera like the 80D, the effective focal length will increase due to the crop factor, giving you even more relative reach for distant subjects.
Do you currently own a stable tripod?
Using a stable tripod or monopod is highly recommended when shooting with this manual telephoto lens. At extreme focal lengths like 500mm or 1000mm, even minor hand movements create highly magnified vibrations, making steady physical support essential for clear, sharp images.
Can you use autofocus with this telephoto lens?
No, this ultra-telephoto lens operates strictly via manual focus and manual aperture control. Your camera body will not communicate electronically with the lens, meaning you will need to adjust the focus ring by hand and shoot in Manual or Aperture-Priority mode.
