FAQs
Is Cat7 overkill for home use?
While Cat6 is sufficient for most basic setups, Cat7 is excellent for future-proofing your home. It provides higher bandwidth up to 600 MHz and speeds up to 10 Gbps, which is ideal for smart homes, extensive media streaming, and high-performance gaming networks.
What is a Cat7 cable used for?
Cat7 cables are used for high-speed, high-bandwidth networking in smart homes, data centers, and server rooms. They are ideal for applications requiring minimal interference and maximum data transfer rates over long distances.
Is Cat7 faster than Cat6?
Yes, Cat7 supports speeds up to 10 Gbps at a higher frequency of 600 MHz, compared to Cat6 which handles up to 10 Gbps but only at frequencies up to 250 MHz. This means Cat7 maintains faster speeds with less signal corruption over longer distances.
