Product details
Description
The Drill America Number 38 by 6 inch cobalt aircraft extension drill bit is engineered for precision drilling in demanding, high-tensile strength applications. Manufactured from a premium cobalt steel alloy, this heavy-duty twist drill bit provides exceptional red hardness and heat resistance, allowing it to perform significantly faster and longer than standard high-speed steel tools when cutting through tough materials like stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium.
Featuring an overall length of 6 inches, it provides the extended reach required for deep-hole and confined-space fabrication tasks. The self-centering 135-degree split point tip eliminates bit walking and reduces thrust requirements for cleaner, more accurate starts.
Enhanced with a smooth gold oxide surface treatment, this aircraft extension drill bit ensures efficient chip evacuation and minimized friction during heavy-duty industrial or automotive operations.
How to use
- Secure the round shank firmly into a compatible tool-holding system.
- Align the 135-degree split point with the marked drilling location on the high-tensile material.
- Apply steady, controlled pressure at recommended speeds, utilizing proper cutting fluid when drilling hard metals like stainless steel or titanium.
Ingredients
Cobalt-infused high-speed steel alloy with a gold oxide surface finish.

FAQs
What are cobalt drill bits best used for?
Cobalt drill bits are specifically designed for drilling through hard, high-tensile strength materials such as stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and cast iron. Their high heat resistance and durability make them ideal for heavy industrial and aerospace applications.
What is the benefit of a 135-degree split point tip?
The 135-degree split point tip is self-centering, which stops the drill bit from walking across the material surface upon contact. This ensures precise placement and reduces the amount of thrust required to start drilling.
What does the 6-inch length provide?
The 6-inch overall length provides extra reach, making it easier to drill deep holes or access confined spaces where standard-length drill bits cannot reach.
Are these drill bits authentic and imported from the USA?
Yes, this product is an authentic USA import. Dropy sources its inventory directly from the United States to ensure genuine quality for customers in India.
What materials can this drill bit cut through?
This drill bit is effective on tough metals like stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and nickel alloys, as well as wood and plastics when extra reach is required.
