My son did a science project in which he compared four different brands of alkaline batteries. Duracell blew the others away. However, it turns out that you get what you pay for. The cheapest ones had the shortest life, but you need to realize that they are the cheapest ones. If you care about long-lasting versus initial cost, you need these for things like smoke detectors.
