FAQs
What is a wall plate in networking?
A wall plate in networking is a hardware component mounted on a wall that provides a clean, organized termination point for network cables. It allows users to easily connect devices like computers or routers to internal building wiring via accessible ports.
Will a Cat5e wall plate work for Cat6?
Yes, standard RJ45 connectors share the same physical form factor, meaning a Cat5e keystone can physically accept a Cat6 cable. However, to maintain true Cat6 data speeds and performance, it is recommended to use dedicated Cat6 keystone components throughout your network.
Are Cat5 and Cat6 RJ45 connectors the same?
While both use the identical physical RJ45 eight-pin interface, Cat6 connectors are engineered with thicker internal wiring guides to reduce crosstalk and support higher data transmission rates up to ten Gigabits per second.
