A Solid Storm Radio
During the historic blizzard of 2026 we lost power and I wished we had an old fashioned analog transistor radio with a weather band to get the NOAA reports. So I sprung for this one and it far exceeds expectations. Anyway, now I feel ready for the next "big one". (Better late than never, right? LOL)) This AA battery radio is a retro throwback to the 1960s era in design-except for the optional cool USB C battery charging port! TIt has a strong magnetic type speaker head. Talk about olkd school!! Also the antenna reaches to 13" long and is sturdily attached. I live near the ocean, and can get NOAA stations from Block Island to northern Maine with this little beauty. Just go for it. Skip the fancy candy color versions that trade in cuteness. In a blizzard "back to basics" is the only way to go folks!

Effectively worth the rate!
I honestly consider this 4.8 stars - much closer to a 5 than a 4.My only real issue is that there is no way I have found to determine that the internal battery is fully charged. The red lamp below the frequency bar stays lit when the radio is plugged in. There is no separate charging indicator - but this admittedly is nitpicky.Buyers also should be aware of the need for patience when hunting for stations on the shortwave band - it's a relatively wide band stuffed into a small space on this radio, but that patience WILL be rewarded, IMO.The audio quality and receiver sensitivity are far better than anyone should expect in a radio this size, at this price.

It is a perspective machine.
When I want to feel better about myself, I listen to AM radio. After 10:30p, at the top of a tree, low solar activity, moonlight helps (not really), with a long wire antenna set up by a Vietnam Veteran (no joke there, the old radio guys are amazing!), then you rotate the radio to move the ferrite rod, and fall out of the tree. If you appear on C.O.P.S., insurance does NOT cover it. Radio works OK and is definitely worth it for the price in my opinion. I've purchased and used dozens of these cheapo's. Sometimes you find a little gem. Most are average. If you want a good pocket radio, go old Sony (beaucoup bucks!), C. Crane, or Sangean.
