Wonderful Radio With Lots of Features In a Petite Parcel!
First, this radio comes with a large variety of different frequencies, SW, FM, Weather band, etc. This makes it more than just an AM/FM radio to listen to. The Weather and SW bands are a MUST in bad weather conditions. While the radio gets good reception with the built in antenna, I did purchase XHDATA FM/SW extended external antenna for about $6.00 that greatly improves reception especially with SW reception. I find this radio very handy to have around. The built in solar charger is basically to help keep a charged battery charged but will get the battery charged enough to use in several hours. Has a built in Solar Panel charger that takes some time to charge the battery but does the job in an emergency. The hand crank also takes a lot of turns but will charge the battery enough for about 5-10 minutes of emergency use when needed. This radio also records and plays MP3 files with a TF card (Micro SD card) with a large storage of up to 16 GB or using a USB drive. Also has Blutooth to connect to mobile devices to use as a speaker. This radio works well and is fun to play with. It has an old school analog dial for tuning but also has a digital tuning option. After 6 months I have not had any problems or issues. The buttons and dails may be small or difficult to use for some but fully functional if you just read the instructions. Took a day to learn the radio and I now can use all of the functions without having to refer back to the instructions. For a small, portable, multifunction radio, this one works for me. Bought another to have at home and one in the car.

An magnificent pick for a rugged emergency radio, and not just for emergency utilize.
Living in Florida, we occasionally have hurricanes which knocks out the power. So a portable, emergency radio is a good thing to have around. This radio is like a Swiss Army Knife of radios. It's perfect for everyday use as well as emergency use.As it says on the tin, it has a solar panel for charging, a crank for manual charging, or can be charged using a direct plug-in on the back with an included USB cable. So if you want it fully charged before a storm, you have plenty of options. It also has a built in flashlight and compass. On the top are buttons for switching radio bands, turning the light on and off, switching between radio and white noise mode, and to turn on the backlight on the front to determine how much power you have left and to measure the audio levels. On the back you have a switch to activate SOS mode which creates a loud alarm sound and rapidly turns the flashlight on and off for emergencies. You can also use this radio as an emergency power bank by flipping that same switch to turn the ports on the back of the radio, above the solar panel, into charging ports. On the side you can switch between radio, Bluetooth, or USB drive modes with ease. I've not tested the Bluetooth since I seldom use that in general with radios but that's just me. But you can plug in a custom thumb drive of music and play it via this radio fairly easily, with a play/pause and seek buttons to control the playback.Radio signal wise its very good and could pick up stations quite well.As shown on the product page, it does come with a nice plastic case with foam interior, perfect for storing the radio, the included cable, and the instruction manual with ease. The pictures do make it seem smaller than it really is and it's a little on the heavy side but that's fine.Overall, a very good choice for a portable emergency radio. An excellent choice for either regular and emergency use alike. The White Noise options though are kinda "meh." as they're all short, looping, sounds that come preloaded onto the radio. I think you'd be better off loading higher quality white noise onto a dedicated memory stick and using that if white noise is something that you simply must have with a radio but that's by no means a deal breaker for me.

Radio with all kinds of interesting features
I was initially going to give this radio 4 stars because as soon as I opened the case and pulled out the radio, the volume knob/compass just fell off. I was kind of upset because this seemed like it was going to be a very interesting radio, but that really got me off to a bad start. Well, I used one drop of superglue and it's as good as new. I shouldn't have had to do that, though, but I took a new look at the radio after the glue dried. It has so many interesting features that I've never seen on any other radio I've ever had. I'll explain some of what I'm tried and how it works. So, there are so many features, it can be almost overwhelming to learn them all. Just take your time with the manual. The first interesting feature I liked was the fact that you can turn the radio by hand, but you can also have the radio digitally tune the radio. It even has 70 automatic presets for each radio band. That took a little bit of work to figure out the digital part. You have to turn on the radio, and then short press the small "pause/play" button on the back of the radio, that turns on the digital tuner. Now you have to make the radio scan for stations, so long-press the same button and it will scan. Once it completes, you can press the small track forward or previous track buttons to cycle through all of the stations the scan found. That is really cool. There are lots of ways to charge the internal batteries. It has a solar panel. I tried out the hand crack and it works too, but I wish the crank had a little bit bigger handle. It is somewhat uncomfortable to crank for very long, There are a lot of features that take a while to remember, such as to turn on the backlight, you have to long-press the "mode" button. The only problem is that the backlight is a RED led and that washes out the numbers of the AM radio dial. They should have used a white LED or a different color for AM. I didn't test the Bluetooth or the MicroSD card playback capability. I did test the White Noise feature. It should have been a very cool feature, but this implementation wasn't well thought out. For one thing, each sound, such as thunderstorm or the stream with bubbling water, is only a 3-4 second sample. And the volume drops down at the end of each sample. It would be better if the sound was the same volume, and it would loop continuously in a more seamless way. It also won't use the sleep timer in the white noise mode. So, I won't be using that. The radio also has a battery level meter, a sleep timer (10 to 70 minutes, selectable), and what they call a Spectrum Indicator, which is really just a volume level meter for the radio station. Besides AM and FM, it also includes the Weather Band (7 channels). It works just fine, and I can hear the NOAA broadcast for my area. The shortwave bands do not offer continuous frequency coverage, however. So, I can't pick up some of the stations I can pick up on my bigger base unit. But I guess it's adequate for this size radio. They provide a nice heavy-duty storage case, which is something I don't usually see these days. And the speaker, while small, is first rate and has a good sound. The tuner is strong and easily locks onto stations. The flashlight, while not super-bright, is bright enough to see what you need to see in a dark room. So, while there are things that I like and things that I don't like, overall, I feel like this is a decent radio with some cool features I've never seen offered in a small radio before. So, I gave it 5 stars.
