Description
Elevate your stargazing and astrophotography sessions with the Explore Scientific 2 Inch O-III Nebula Filter, engineered to isolate critical doubly ionized oxygen emission lines at 496 nanometers and 501 nanometers. Designed for serious amateur astronomers, this premium optical filter effectively blocks artificial streetlamp glare and urban light pollution while letting targeted nebular light pass through with remarkable efficiency.
Whether you are observing faint planetary nebulae, supernova remnants, or diffuse emission structures like the Veil Nebula, this tool dramatically boosts visual contrast, making elusive deep-sky details sharply visible against a dark space background. Built with standard 2-inch barrel threading, it fits seamlessly into compatible telescope eyepieces and filter wheels.
Ideal for visual observation through larger aperture telescopes and for pairing with monochrome sensors during astrophotography, every filter comes paired with a personalized individual test sheet and transmission graph certified by Explore Scientific. Sourced directly from the USA, this authentic astronomy accessory transforms washed-out suburban skies into high-contrast windows deep into the cosmos.
How to use
- Thread the 2-inch filter securely onto the barrel of your compatible telescope eyepiece, diagonal, or filter wheel before inserting it into the telescope focuser.
- Ensure optical surfaces remain clean and free from dust or fingerprints using a certified lens cleaning kit.

FAQs
What size telescope aperture do you have?
This 2-inch O-III filter is best utilized with medium to large aperture telescopes that gather sufficient light to overcome the dimming effect of narrowband filters, enhancing views of faint planetary nebulae.
Are you primarily doing visual observation or astrophotography?
The filter excels in both applications. For visual observing, it reveals hidden gaseous structures in suburban skies, while in astrophotography, it pairs exceptionally well with monochrome camera setups.
Which nebulae or celestial objects can be viewed with this filter?
It is specifically engineered for observing emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants such as the Veil Nebula and the Dumbbell Nebula.
Are these astronomy products authentic and sourced from the USA?
Yes, Dropy sources all products directly from the USA, ensuring you receive 100 percent authentic equipment complete with original manufacturer documentation and certification sheets.
What thread size does this nebula filter feature?
This filter features a standard 2-inch (50.8 millimeter) barrel thread size designed to fit compatible astronomy accessories and filter wheels.
