Why should you use the 4x or 10x objectives and not the 40x or 100x objectives when you initially focus on a specimen?
It is recommended to start with lower power objectives like the 4x or 10x because they provide a wider field of view, making it much easier to locate and center the specimen. Once the object is focused and centered, you can safely switch to higher power objectives without the risk of damaging the slide or lens.
What is the difference between top and bottom LED illumination?
Bottom lighting is transmitted through the stage to illuminate thin, transparent specimens like cell slides. Top lighting is reflected off the surface of opaque objects, such as insect wings or fabric samples, allowing for observation of solid materials.
