FAQs
What is a litter box filter?
A litter box filter is an odor-absorbing pad, typically made of activated charcoal or carbon, that fits inside the ventilation slots of a covered or hooded cat litter box. It works by trapping and neutralizing airborne odor molecules like ammonia before they can escape into your home.
How often should you change the charcoal filter in a cat litter box?
For optimal odor control, it is recommended to change the charcoal filter every two to three months. However, if you have multiple cats or if the litter box is placed in a high-traffic area, you may want to replace it sooner to ensure uninterrupted odor absorption.
Are charcoal litter box filters safe for cats?
Yes, charcoal litter box filters are completely safe and non-toxic for cats. Because they are placed securely in the external hood holder, your cat does not step on or ingest the material, making it a much safer alternative to chemical deodorizing powders and artificial sprays.
