Stock up on Emergency supplies
Number 1: Dropy shipped an open box unit which I didn't want.Number 2: I tested the unit. The FM tuner works reasonably effectively EXCEPT for my station which required full extension on the antenna. The sound is absolutely wonderful for the J-288. Similar to other reviews the unit will not stand up firmly when the antenna is fully extended. The only way to preset is to scan for all available channels. I had to turn down the volume in my office. This unit didn't work for me due to the fact I bought it for the FM radio and antenna. This unit DOES NOT ALLOW manually setting stations. It's the greatest attribute besides multi-input and manually entering radio station instead of seeking. Without full extension the station was mostly static. My channel is in the upper band so it's inconvenient to press every preset to find your station instead of being able to set it to PRESET 1. The second flaw was preset stations.

Pleasant desktop radio
I CANNOT say sufficient positive things about this radio. One side of hinged battery cover snapped off and now it does not hold the 4 AA batteries in securely. Replacement cover is almost as high-end as the damn radio itself. So the circuit is damaged and the radio turns off. I have the power cord but only utilize it sparingly. BUT BUT BUT, beware of breaking the hinged battery cover. It has an aged retro look. I have included a pic go see it. So my inexpensive ass turned to the almighty masking tape and taped the batteries in place and out the cover back on. Descent battery life. I propose rechargeable batteries.

Great Budget Portable Radio with Extremely Decent Sound!
WOW. So glad I bought this gorgeous little machine. It's loud adequate to hear clearly in the next space and sounds amazing. This radio reception is amazing and so easy to tune. Bluetooth paired instantly and sounds great. I thought I needed a digital tuner but I don't even need the external antenna with this one. I listen to the radio frequently when working and reading, and my all-in one stereo system frequently lost the signal of my favorite station, and it was tough to lock on. And the sound is better than my stereo.
