FAQs
Does the R4 card work on the Nintendo 3DS?
Yes, this card works on the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL consoles updated up to version 11.9.0. However, it only boots in DS mode to play original DS games and homebrew applications, and it does not play native 3DS games.
What is the firmware timebomb and how do you bypass it?
Certain flashcart models contain a firmware code that stops the card from booting after a specific calendar date. You can easily bypass this by setting your handheld console clock back a few years, or by installing alternative open-source firmware like YSMenu onto the card.
Do I need to format the included memory card before setup?
Yes, for the console to recognize the operating system files, the eight gigabyte micro secure digital card must be formatted to the FAT32 file system. Ensure you place the correct kernel files in the root folder after formatting.
