  My new favorite pair without a doubt; GREAT customer service

  I noticed that pictures are not in the order as what I described in the review below. So, pictures 1 and 5 are the second/new product. Pictures 2-4 are the first/damaged product. Going from left to right, the left-most picture being number 1.***Review updated 9/23/2020***I have left my original review for reference.I was contacted by a sales rep for the product and after some back and forth, the sales rep showed the images I originally posted (the first three pics) to the production manager. The production manager advised that my original pair was likely dropped causing the excess metal at one of the blade's tip (I still think it was a burr, but whatever). Regardless, they sent me a new pair and WOW!!! What a difference.First of all huge kudos for the superior customer service. Talk about going above and beyond to do right by the customer (other merchants could definitely learn a thing or two from these guys). Secondly, what a fantastic tool. The second pair exhibits a virtually perfectly triangulating tip (both blade tips come together to form one, uniform tip), super sharp blades, and the blades come together at almost all points and create contact (if you hold the nippers under a light, a bit of light passes, indicating a very slight hairline gap is present). The last two pictures are of the replacement nippers (pic 4 and 5 - note the difference in how the blades come together in the first and last images). The nippers have a good weight to them, presumably because of the quality of the steel. This implies the blades won't dull rapidly and I wont have to worry about sharpening them often. I guess I'll know that only after a few years of usage.Using them is a true pleasure. They separate skin easily without any effort. I use these on my kids as they often get hangnails and tend to fidget a lot while i'm trying to remove the hangnail (something that would typically lead to a bigger, more painful hangnail). Now I can quickly squeeze, without using excess force, and the hangnail is removed with maximum efficiency.You do pay a premium, but you get what you pay for. If you take care of these properly, they will last you a lifetime.***********************************************************************************************************************************Original review 8/29/2020***I was so excited when I ordered this trimmer. For the asking price, these are fairly pricey but I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for". At 5X the price of the average trimmer, these were supposed to be phenomenal but to my great disappointment, my $5 trimmers that I have at home are of far better machining quality.The shape of the jaw is excellent, the angle they produce is excellent, the quality of steel is excellent, but without proper machining, all of these attributes do not mean anything. The poor quality in my particular case rendered this tool basically worthless. I'm not sure if my case was a one of defect or if this just poor quality control in general.What separates good trimmers from lousy cheap ones besides the quality of the steel and how sharp the blades are, is the contact the two blades have with each other. In quality trimmers, the two blades should touch each other fully, at all points when the trimmer jaw is closed (without adding excess force). When this holds true, the full contact of the blades creates a trimmer that can cut at any point of the jaw blade (front, mid or back). Combine full contact with sharp jaws blade and you get a precise tool that one enjoys using.The item I received had the look and feel of a high quality trimmer until i saw the blades and their contact. The person that was machining them was either blind or had crooked hands. The blades only produce contact at the very tip, rendering the rest of the jaw blades basically worthless unless you use needless force, and squeeze much harder than necessary. Furthermore, in my particular case the tip of the tool didn't even align properly, partly because of a burr on the tip of one of the blades. All in all, very disappointing. Not what I would expect from a "Made in Germany" tool that costs 5X more than the average trimmer. A picture is worth a thousand words... see for yourself.

  High-quality product

  It's pricey compared to all the Made-in-China cuticle trimmers but the quality is unequalled. It's obviously well-made and fits in my hand very well. It's also super sharp. I always buy the best product I can afford and use it for a long time versus buying something cheap that's irritating to use and breaks within a few months. This Germanikure Cuticle Trimmer will serve me well for at least 10 years.
