FAQs
What are the different types of hitch pins used for?
Hitch pins come in shapes like round canopy PTO pins, lynch pins, and square pins. Round canopy pins are specifically designed to secure trailer couplers, camper awnings, PTO shafts, and tailgate latches against accidental detachment during movement.
What size hitch pin do I need for my tractor?
The size depends on your tractor attachment category and pin hole diameter. A 5/16 inch diameter pin with a 2-3/8 inch usable length is standard for many small to mid-sized PTO shafts, implements, and utility trailer connections.
How do I tell what size hitch pin I need?
Measure the inside diameter of the mounting hole on your receiver or implement using a caliper or ruler. Also, measure the required span to ensure the usable length of the pin clears both sides with room for the retainer loop to close.
