Fantistic little receiver!
I favor this radio. If you don't refer to it, just spend a little time and it you will learn it. It will take a while for most buyers to learn how it works. But, I would appreciate to retain the charging capability but with replaceable batteries. The WX aspect works very effectively and better than some that I've had. You can recharge the internal battery with USB-C cable. I almost never look at them for devices like this because so many user manuals are often worthless, these days. I don't know if the manual is helpful. I get a lot of FM stations without extending the antenna which is kind of unusual for my area. Works inside the home, where some radios have not done adequately. Watch out for the LOUD panic button, though.IF, the designers are interested, I would enjoy the buttons to be backlit, so I could operate it properly in the dark. The antenna seems flimsy, but I am getting used to it since the radio seems worthy in all other aspects.

Radio Tech Review
Station operator / tech. 21 years. Didn't expect much from reading / watching reviews, however this is a good tiny radio. To get the best reception, use the Ext. port with a patch cable that can connect to an outdoor antenna. I tested with a CB antenna (102" whip), and was able to get good reception on most bands (especially CB and FM for this length antenna). HRD747 has advanced features that requires some knowledge of radio to operate at max efficiency, such as bandwidth adjustments.

Wow! Great radio!
This radio is loaded with so many features it is unbelievable what this small radio can do! It does everything: Shortwave Radio, AM, FM, MW, SW, CB, AIR, VHF ,UHF, UBD, WX Wide Frequence Receiver with NOAA Alert and it has a Sleep Timer! I spent a couple of hours 'playing' with it! I am totally impressed with the reception of this radio. It comes with a rechargeable battery as well as ear phones, carrying strap, long antennae and a carrying case. Keep the instructions, because you will need them! This thing would make a great gift for anyone but especially a shortwave radio enthusiast! This little radio would be a great thing to have in your emergency kit. It is so compact, but it does so much! I highly recommend. UPDATE: I paired this with a solar panel so I can recharge it easily. This is a great radio!
