Very gentle
The directions state you should use 2-3 pumps to wash your face. I found 2 pumps was sufficient. This is a very gentle soap, and the small bubbles don't get any larger when rubbed on the face. It washed off easily, and my face felt very clean. Using toner afterward revealed that it removed nearly 100% of my makeup.
