  5 star foundation

  This i a beautiful, beautiful foundation. I'd never worn Julep's foundations so I wasn't sure which color to select. I chose Shell, which actually was perfect for me. When you look at it in on the enclosed sponge, it looks very neutral, with no overpowering yellow or pink undertones. Just a pretty beige color.The foundation comes in a tube which has a rounded white sponge attached at its top, covered by a clear cap. To dispense it, you twist the tube three times, which causes the initial bit of foundation to get absorbed by the top of the sponger. (In later uses, you just twist twice.) I did that, then dabbed the foundation a couple of times on my forehead. That applied enough foundation for me to smooth it with my fingers over my entire face (though I don't apply it to my eyelids or undereyes). Those two dabs go a long way! You can add more as this is a buildable foundation, but the amount I get with two dabs is enough for my preference. I just want a fresh and natural foundation; what this does for me is to cover up the imperfections of my skin while still looking like I'm not wearing foundation.I love this cushion foundation!

  Very nice dewy foundation

  This is actually a really nice foundation that works well on my super dry and sensitive maturing skin. I have tried just about everything out there and recently have been alternating between my two favorites which are nars light reflecting foundation in the color deauville and bare minerals tinted moisturizer in opal. I included a swatch of those two plus this foundation in the color shell on my arm… shell is first, closest to my hand, nars is second and opal is third just for color reference. Shell is really surprisingly a great color match for me so for the first day of using this, I decided to use it on 1/2 of my face and my opal tinted moisturizer on the other half… I could barely tell a difference as the day went on and actually, I would say that this Julep foundation covered a touch more and seem to last a little longer. It applied really smoothly and easily without me having to build it much and I thought it looked very natural on first application. I think the tube it comes in is really neat, but I am a little confused about how to use it exactly because I ended up with a lot of excess product on top that I didn't need. This foundation provided a nice dewy finish and wasn't irritating at all. I love the fact that I didn't feel the need to have to apply any powder on top of it… It was just a very nice finish after using bb vitamin enriched serum and face base underneath… A great combination. I will happily continue using this on a daily basis until it runs out and then the true test will be if I decide to re-order… As of now, I would say it is a strong possibility.
