I've used Just For Men Shampoo-In Color for over 15 years! I'm 72.
I've been using Just For Men Shampoo-In Color for 15 years or more. Nobody has ever been close to guessing my real age. I'm 72 and will be 73 in June. Most people guess I'm in my 50s. I feel young, so I'd rather see the young version of myself in the mirror. Attached are photos of me at ages 64 (June 2017) and at 72 (April 2026). It's an easy 10-15-minute process in front of the bathroom mirror. I put petroleum jelly on the top of my ear lobes, then around my side burns, and up and around my forehead so there won't be any staining of my skin. I keep a wet wipe handy in case I need to wipe off excess hair color. I rub in and comb through the shampoo, and leave it in for five minutes before washing it out in the shower. "Hey Siri, set a timer for 5 minutes". When done, it leaves my hair soft and easy to blow-dry and style. Most guys probably get one use for a box. Since I don't have long hair, I get four uses per box, so one box lasts me about two to three months. I carefully measure the color base into a plastic spoon, then the same amount of developer into a glass custard cup, and mix it. I use my gloved hands to grab some of the mixture and rub it into my hair, then use a comb, and rub some more. I make sure I rinse off the custard cup, comb, spoon, and gloves in warm water in the sink before I step into the shower. Most shampoos and conditioners strip color. In my opinion, they should be sodium chloride, sulfate, and paraben-free. I use an organic hemp seed oil shampoo and conditioner, or try other similar products like Purad'or colorharmony purple shampoo.

Good product for overall coverage because you can achieve a thorough and consistent color. The color is more long lasting than the results achieved with grey reducing shampoos. Only requires a handful of simple steps...mix, apply, massage in, wait 5 minutes, wash out. The scent isn't horrible, like some hair coloring I've used. Price seems consistent with most middle of the road hair coloring kits. It works the same as many women's basic hair coloring kits, except it takes less time to process.

Works well for shorter hair. If your hair is long, one box doesn't contain enough dye.
I am not a man, but I do have grey to cover up. This hair dye is incredibly easy to use. I'm used to dyes that have the developer and color sold separately, don't include an applicator bottle and require measuring to get the ratio correct. This includes a small bottle of dye, and the developer already in an applicator bottle. There is even a little plastic bubble container with a pair of gloves in it. The instructions state to leave it on for only five minutes. This is because the color becomes more intense when left on for longer, and they don't trust you to pick the right color. I left it on for 20 minutes, because this color is very similar to my natural hair color. The result is no stained skin and also no grey hair. Note - if you have long hair, this will not be enough. My hair all fell out from chemo about a year ago, and it's only about 3" long when stretched. One box was just enough to fully cover my thick, 4C hair. If my hair were any longer, I would have had to spread it quite thin, and might not have gotten as good a coverage. So, if you're a man with longer hair, this will likely not be enough dye for you. Immediately after rinsing it out, my hair felt dry and stripped. I followed up with Mizani strength fusion repairing shampoo and Joico YouthLock Treatment Masque and my hair felt much less stripped. The color didn't impact my curl pattern at all. It does color well. It's easy to use. It's priced fairly and will get the job done without damaging your hair.
