it will tend to go on wetter than hairspray to allow for styling time. If you want something to dry instantly,.I have curly hair that I let air dry and I use products like this one on wet hair as my last step to lock in a bit of hold in my crown and the top of my head as they are not as curly as the rest of my hair. This gives me a bit of lift and some hold Used lightly on my dry second day hair works well for a bit of hold and texture. try it more as a styling spray for damp, wet hair, or for any kind of textured hair that needs a bit of hold

Great Hold For a Non-Alcoholic Hairspray
This is not a quick dry hairspray! It is alcohol free and it takes time to dry. Also time to figure out how much to put on your hair without over spray. I will say it takes a few minutes to dry. BUT I use a demi-permanent deep red and burgundy with 3VV lowlights! I my hair is fine and tends to dry out with most hairsprays or they strip my hair or they make my red go coppery. That's why I started going alcohol free hairsprays. Most have gone off the market but this one is the healthiest strong hold hairspray for my hair. It effectively holds my hair without gluing it. It can take some volume out of hair due of wetting. But not much at all. It is firm but combs/brushes out easily. It leaves a matte kind of sheen but I use Bed Head Matte/Wax in my hair. So I like this product and it doesn't have a heavy fragrance. If you are looking for a hairspray with great hold and works as well as one with alcohol you may want to try this.
