Description
Enhance your riding precision and equine control with the Lift Sports Pelham Bit featuring a Mullen Mouth and integrated chain. Expertly engineered from top-grade stainless steel with a brilliant polish finish, this equestrian bit is designed for riders seeking refined communication and superior performance.
The solid mullen mouthpiece gently distributes contact evenly across the tongue and bars, entirely eliminating the nutcracker effect often caused by jointed bits to prevent pinching in the mouth. Combined with integrated shanks and a linked metal curb chain, this versatile design merges the direct contact of a snaffle with the leverage of a curb bit.
It is ideal for stronger horses that lean on the bit or require additional poll, chin groove, and mouth pressure for responsive braking and handling. Built to resist rust and corrosion, this durable 5.5 inch horse bit delivers lasting reliability for daily training, riding sessions, and polo.
How to use
- Select the correct size for your horse.
- Attach the bridle cheekpieces to the top rings and the reins to the main rings or shank slots depending on whether you are using single reins with pelham roundings or double reins.

FAQs
Is a Pelham a harsh bit?
A Pelham bit can be strong because it combines leverage and curb action, but its severity largely depends on the rider's hands and how the reins are attached. Using a mullen mouth design helps soften the contact by distributing pressure evenly without pinching.
Do you plan to ride with two reins or Pelham roundings?
You can use either option depending on your training preference. Two reins allow the rider to independently adjust snaffle and curb actions, while Pelham roundings combine both into a single rein for simpler handling.
Is a Pelham stronger than a gag?
Both are leverage bits used for stronger horses, but they apply pressure differently. A Pelham applies pressure to the poll, mouth, and chin groove simultaneously, whereas a gag primarily acts on the corners of the lips and poll.
