  Everything gives the impression adequately built and sturdy,

  I picked up this ingrown toenail correction kit to deal with a painful ingrown nail issue, and I'm really pleased with how well it's worked. The kit comes with a solid mix of tools including nail clippers, metal lifter and file tools for getting under the nail edges, a scalpel type instrument, plastic lift pieces that work like what a podiatrist uses, a nail file, and correction patches. Everything feels well made and sturdy, and the tools did exactly what they were supposed to do. After using the kit following a warm foot soak, I was able to lift the nail edge and relieve the pressure that had been causing so much discomfort. My foot feels significantly better already.The breathable correction strips are surprisingly comfortable and barely noticeable, even when wearing shoes throughout the day. The plastic lift pieces can be a bit tricky to position and keep in place, some stayed on through showers while others came off more easily, but when they do stay put they work really well. I appreciate that this kit includes everything needed for at home nail care in one package, though clearer instructions on how to use each tool would have been helpful. The clear storage bag is practical for keeping everything together and makes it travel friendly. Overall, this is a thoughtful, complete kit that's made managing ingrown toenails at home much more manageable and has provided genuine relief.

  Some useful tools

  This is an interesting and useful set of tools for those plagued by ingrown toenails. So far my problems haven't yet been resolved, but of course nails grow awfully slowly so it may take some time. Here's my experience with the various parts of the kit:The nail clippers are pretty normal except that they have a little grippy surface at the tip. The metal tools they call Ingrown Toenail Lifter and Ingrown Toenail File are both useful for getting under the edges of the nail and lifting it. One thing to be aware of is that the tool they have labeled as a "Cuticle Pusher" is NOT a cuticle pusher. It has a blade on the end and is a cutting instrument. If you were to try to use it to push your cuticles, you would be sorry.The little plastic things that go along the sides of the nails are kind of hard to get on, and I had mixed success with them staying in place. On one of my toes they stayed on both sides, even through soaking and showering, while on the other foot, they came off with the first shower. On my toe where they stayed on, I used them on both sides and found that for whatever reason, on one side it stayed on perfectly and I can't even feel it, while on the other side it stayed on, but it started to irritate the tissue after a couple of days, so I removed it. I do think they'd be useful if you can get them into a comfortable place where they don't irritate and keep them in place, but if you have to keep replacing them, you'll probably get sick of constantly putting them on.I'm not sure what the purpose of the bandaid-like stickers that go on top of the toenail is, but I'm using them because I figure what the heck, it can't hurt. They have little bars running across the middle of them, so my guess is that maybe they're intended to put upward pressure on the outer sides of the nail. It's a good idea in theory (if that is indeed the point), but doesn't work great in practice because they only stay stuck on in the center - the sides of them lift up & don't stay stuck to my nails. The long strips that go across the end of the toe and under the edge of the nail are hard to get on because of course they're sticky, so they stick to your skin while you're trying to slide them under the nail.

  Painful but worth it if doing it yourself is the only option.

  The tools are sharp and I haven't had an ingrown come back since I used this kit to remove mine. HOWEVER, I want to point out that doing this at home is very much not worth it. First of all the likelihood of getting an infection if you aren't trained and don't have proper sanitary supplies is much higher with a kit like this. Make sure your tools have been cleaned before use, The plastic bit also got stuck underneath my nail and was difficult to remove later, plus slightly painful as I had to dig it out. The tools themselves are good quality! My toe feels a lot better now, but since I didn't have anything to numb the pain I would really only get this if your insurance won't cover going to a podiatrist for the ingrown.
