Product details

Description

McKesson Sterile Abdominal Pads are professional grade, highly absorbent dressings engineered specifically for high capacity wound care management. Ideal for surgical recovery, heavy drainage trauma, and post-operative care, these five by nine inch rectangular pads provide a critical barrier against contamination while promoting an optimal environment for healing. Each pad features a soft, nonwoven outer fabric that rests gently against vulnerable skin, paired with an advanced inner cellulose tissue core.

This specialized construction ensures rapid wicking, drawing excess fluids away from the wound site and locking them securely inside to keep the area dry. The completely sealed edges prevent any lateral leakage or side seepage, offering reliable clothing and bedding protection. Designed with patient recovery in mind, these medical dressings are lint free, which prevents stray fibers from sticking to granulating tissues and disrupting the natural healing process.

Safe for sensitive skin and post-op individuals, these individual wrapped dressings offer elite moisture management for challenging wounds.

How to use

  1. Cleanse the wound area thoroughly using a sterile saline solution or an appropriate wound cleanser as directed by your healthcare professional.
  2. Carefully open the individual sterile packet to remove the abdominal pad, ensuring you do not touch the side that will face the wound.
  3. Gently place the white, absorbent side of the pad directly over the wound site.
  4. Secure the dressing firmly in place using medical tape, conforming bandages, or surgical wrap.
  5. Change the dressing regularly or as soon as fluid begins to show through the outer layer to maintain a clean, dry healing environment.

    Does not leak through.

I had wrist surgery four weeks ago. Some areas remain sensitive making the cast uncomfortable. Wrap around hand and up your arm as far as necessary. The cast was removed yesterday and replaced by a removable cast (velcro closure). Just don't wrap it too tight! Since I do this myself I am working one-handed and it is not hard. This is such a relief and extremely pleasant! If you choose this application, start by placing one end between thumb and index finger with a tail of a couple of inches. Each time you pass it inside the thumb, twist it so it lays well. Where you finish just tuck the end in securely, no need for tape. I am wrapping it in these 3" stretch gauze strips before putting on the cast.

Fine absorbency and protection at a very fair price

These Dealmed non-woven gauze sponges are gentle, absorbent, and durable, making them fantastic for dental work with, wound care, or general first aid. Otherwise, they are reliable and cost-effective.Highly recommend for anyone needing quality non-sterile gauze for daily use, just be aware they are bulk-packed. The 4-ply thickness provides excellent absorbency, and the 4" x 4" measurements is versatile for multiple tasks. My only complaint is that they are not individually packaged, which would make them more convenient and hygienic, notably for travel or professional use.

FAQs

What are sterile abdominal pads used for?

Sterile abdominal pads, also known as ABD pads, are heavy duty dressings used to manage large wounds with heavy fluid output. They are commonly applied to post-operative surgical incisions, heavy drainage trauma sites, and deep wounds to absorb exudate and protect the area from infection.

Why is it called an ABD pad?

It is called an ABD pad because it was originally designed to cover large surgical incisions on the abdomen. Today, the term refers generally to any thick, super absorbent medical dressing used for high capacity fluid management anywhere on the body.

What are ABD pads made of?

These pads are made with a soft, nonwoven outer layer that is gentle on skin and a thick inner core composed of cellulose tissue. This combination allows for maximum moisture wicking, rapid fluid collection, and high capacity retention.

Are these McKesson abdominal pads authentic imports available in India?

Yes, these are authentic McKesson medical supplies imported directly from the United States of America. Dropy India sources genuine personal care and healthcare items directly from trusted US distributors to ensure international medical grade quality for Indian consumers.

Can these pads be cut down to a smaller size if needed?

No, sterile abdominal pads should never be cut. Cutting the dressing breaks the sealed edges, which will cause the inner cellulose fibers to spill out into the wound, causing contamination, lint accumulation, and severe irritation to the healing tissue.

How long will delivery take?

Most orders arrive in 15–20 days: we source each product directly from the USA, check it at our Navi Mumbai warehouse and pack it on video. Items marked Dropy Express ship from our India warehouse and arrive in 3–5 days.
