  Great for dry shampoo buildup

  Very nice hair treatment to remove build up.This stuff smells incredible, isn't super thick, and makes my hair so soft and shiny after each use.I use a lot of dry shampoo, so I really feel like this helps wash away all of that residue and leaves my scalp calm and happy. It feels like it moisturizes my scalp as well, which is nice after all of the dry shampoo.Great size bottle, you get a lot of uses out of one bottle. I love the nozzle as well, it really helps to get the product where you need it on your scalp without wasting it. Will definitely be reordering!

  Great as a scalp treatment

  As a man with hair that would be considered short by women's standards, I'm probably not in the target market for this product, but I was curious enough to order it anyway. I gather that it's supposed to be applied regularly to remove the remnants of other hair products, and it's a mixture of oils and exfoliants that works by dissolving those remnants.Since the extent of my hair care routine is ordinarily limited to a daily shampooing, this product ends up creating more buildup than it removes in my case. However, I do find it worthwhile as a scalp treatment for other reasons. There's a tingling sensation that lets me know that it's working, and my scalp is moisturized and cleansed by the time I wash it out. The oils it contains condition my hair and leave it looking shiny and feeling smooth. The smell it imparts to my hair is a bit incongruous (i.e. feminine-coded), although it's pleasant enough. I'd describe it as more like lychee than lavender, and it lingers for perhaps two hours.As of the date of review in mid-May 2026, this product is priced at about $14 for a 4-oz bottle. I'll gripe about this being an example of a product afflicted by the women's beauty tax, and I'll give it a pass anyway since I can't do anything about that. Also, note that you're supposed to use generous amounts of this stuff before shampooing, but for me it makes much more sense to use smaller amounts either after shampooing or by itself. It's a decent product on its own merits, and whether it's worth it is up to you.

  Absolutely love this product

  At first, the smell of this product was a touch... Strong or something? I wasn't a huge fan of the smell. It wasn't bad necessarily, it was just a bit overpowering. It doesn't linger though, so it doesn't bother me when I use it.Now, the product itself is shockingly incredible. It felt a bit weird going on the first time, but I didn't really know what to expect. I loved how much of a difference it made in my hair. My scalp is always itchy and I use a lot of dry shampoo, this actually made my hair feel super clean. It seems to be helping with all the build up from shampoos and helping to keep my hair healthier.I have thick hair and it's not really textured, but still this product is one I will keep rebuying. Absolutely love it.

  Build up remover that smells awesome with hair growing ingredients

  I have always heard great things about Mielle and I wanted to try one of their products. This Mielle Organics Lavender and Lychee Scalp and Hair Build-up Remover was great. I got it for a few reasons other than the brand fame. And this product met my expectations. First, I wanted something to calm my dry scalp. I had tried different products including shampoos but nothing worked. Leave in oils didnt work either. However, as soon as I applied this product, my scalp was instantly soothed. Lavender and Lychee smelled amazing- exotic but also familiar. I also got it to help gently remove any build up I might have. I knew I did not have much buildup. I dont use any hair products other than leave in conditioners on my hair strands only. However I know even the occasional scalp oiling and daily shampoo use can mix with dead skin cells and natural hair oils to create build up. I had tried another salt scalp scrub to help with the clarifying aspect but it irritated and dried out my scalp. Mielle did not! It gently nourished my hair while lifting off natural build up. Im not sure how much it will lift on those who use more products than I do but on scalp, I noticed a cleaner feeling. I also liked this product because it had minimal toxic ingredients. It was free of a lot of things and more on the natural side. Castor oil is great for hair growth. What was unique in the product is the Niacinamide. I have heard of niacinamide for face but not for scalp. Upon researching it, I found that it helps with hair growth as well by preventing inflammatory hair loss and boosts circulation. Obviously I am not going to see hair growth right away and it will take months to see changes. I am still happy that this product has great ingredients that have been scientifically proven to improve hair health.
