Product details
Description
Minwax Special Dark Paste Finishing Wax is a premium protective polish specifically designed for dark wood surfaces and furniture. This high-quality imported formula provides a classic hand-rubbed luster that highlights the deep tones of walnut, mahogany, and other dark woods.
Unlike standard clear waxes, this tinted formulation adds a subtle depth of color, making it an excellent choice for antiques, cabinetry, and woodwork that requires a rich, traditional finish. It is also highly effective for muting the brightness of chalk paint or providing a smooth, low-friction surface for tools and games like air hockey tables.
This solid paste creates a hard, protective layer that guards against moisture and wear while maintaining a low-gloss, sophisticated appearance. Perfect for homeowners and woodworking enthusiasts in India looking for a professional-grade finish that protects and enhances the natural beauty of dark-toned wood projects without the plastic look of modern polyurethanes.
How to use
- Apply a thin, even coat of the paste wax to a clean, dry wood surface using a soft cloth.
- Allow the wax to dry for 10 to 15 minutes until a slight haze appears.
- Buff the surface thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth to achieve the desired hand-rubbed luster.

FAQs
How to fix acetone damage on a table?
Acetone damage often requires lightly sanding the affected area and reapplying a matching stain. Using a product like Minwax Special Dark Paste Finishing Wax can then help restore the protective layer and blend the sheen for a uniform, hand-rubbed look.
Can this wax be used over chalk paint?
Yes, this dark wax is frequently used over chalk paint to provide a protective top coat while simultaneously muting bright colors and adding an aged, antique aesthetic to the furniture piece.
Is this wax suitable for light-colored woods?
This specific variant contains a dark tint. While it can be used on light woods, it will significantly darken the grain and overall color; for a clear finish, the natural version is recommended.
Is this Minwax Paste Finishing Wax an authentic USA import?
Yes, Dropy India sources this product directly from the USA to ensure you receive the genuine formulation. We specialize in bringing authentic American woodworking and home care products to the Indian market.
Does this wax leave a high-gloss finish?
No, this paste wax is designed to provide a soft, hand-rubbed luster rather than a high-gloss shine. It is ideal for those who prefer a more traditional, matte to satin appearance for their woodwork.
