  Works great - better mobility for our 8yr old furry child

  The vet recommended we put our old girl on cosequin to mitigate a hip injury, and we've been thrilled with the results. Buying direct gave us about 2x the pills for the same cost as what the vet was charging, and the results are outstanding. Much less stiffness in our eight year old mixed breed, with no apparent side effects.

  IT WORKS !!!

  In August, I went out of town and made the mistake of taking my 14-yr-old Llasa to a kennel that has the connotation of a heavenly pet resort (referred by groomer), but was the worst nightmare. After just 3 days, my poor dog was bleeding in one paw, almost blinded, and walked as though he was crippled. Yes, he already had poor eyesight but had no signs of bleeding or trouble w/ walking before going to the kennel.If it was not for Dropy and the customer reviews, I don't know how I would have nursed him back to health. I immediately took him for a bath, faithfully cleaned his eyes and used iDrops, and gave him Nutramax Cosequin DS daily. Soon, he no longer bumped into the piano or kitchen cabinet and he was walking better. After 4 weeks, he now just jumped over the threshold after being in the backyard. The hardwood floor is still hard for him to negotiate; he slips now and then, esp. when excited. But he is no longer sagging at the hips as though he was in pain. I could see the improvement after feeding him the Cosequin 2-3 weeks. Too bad it took several days for me to find Cosequin and for it to get here. But it was well worth the wait.Even though I took him to the vet immediately upon my return, they just said he was old and there was nothing they can do. How sad that they do not even know about the wonderful products on Dropy. At first, a couple of people even told me to put him down so he will not suffer the (leg) pain. I was horrified and saddened, and of course could not do it without trying everything I can. SOOOOOOOOOO glad I found Nutramax. With proper care, I think he still has a few good years left.And, please!!!, check out kennels thoroughly before you put your pets there. They are helpless against abusive or indifferent caretakers. It's sad to say that the neighborhood it's in also can be a factor--I should have trusted my gut instinct instead of relying on a referral. Just want to say thank you to Nutramax and Dropy and its customer reviewers.I would give this 100 stars. That good.

  Great joint support for larger dogs

  We have a 110 pound Great Pyrenees that we got from a rescue about 4 years ago. When we got her we knew that she had a hip problem and after seeing our veterinarian we started her on Cosequin DS. After about a month, we started to notice an improvement in her mobility and activity level. She has been on the Cosequin ever since except for the time she got really sick from eating something she shouldn't (as dogs do sometimes). She was off of the Cosequin for about six week and there was a noticeable difference. About a month after she started taking it again she was back to her more active self.For us, the Cosequin DS does help our dog . Other than the transition period when she first started taking it we really did not observe any ill affects over the past four years.I do have the following observations that may be helpful to people starting their dog on Cosequin DS. The manufacturer's recommended dosing for our dog based on size is 4 pills a day initially and two pills a day after the first six weeks. We found that if we gave her 2 pills the first part of the day and 2 pills the second part of the day (4 per day total) it gave her diarrhea because she was not accustomed to the pills. It is a lot like changing your dog's food abruptly. We found that if we increase the initial dose gradually over a couple of weeks she had no tummy trouble at all. Basically, we would give her ½ pill twice a day for about three days and then increase that by ½ pill every 2-3 days until she reached the recommended dose of 4 pills per day. To be honest I really figured this out because I use the people version of this product, Cosamin DS and if I started the initial dose of 3 pills a day all at once without doing it gradually like described above I had similar tummy trouble.From the dog's perspective - I know that these pills are supposed to be flavored but our dog will not run anybody down to eat them. We give her the pills with her morning and evening dry food meals and most days she eats the pills with her food. About one day a month, she may leave one in her bowl so I am thinking the flavor is ok but not great. If it ever got to the point that she would not eat them, I am sure a little peanut butter or cheese would change her opinion. Every dog is different so your dog may have a different opinion on flavor.
