Product details
Description
The Repti Zoo 22 Inch T5 HO 5.0 UVB Fluorescent Lamp is a specialized lighting solution engineered for rainforest-dwelling reptiles. Providing essential 5.0 UVB and full-spectrum UVA output, this 24-watt high-output bulb mimics natural sunlight to support the physiological health of your pet.
Consistent exposure to proper UVB levels is vital for synthesizing vitamin D3, which aids in calcium metabolism and helps prevent or reverse metabolic bone disease in captive reptiles. This bulb is designed to stimulate natural behaviors, including increased appetite, activity levels, and reproductive health.
With a length of 22 inches, it is specifically optimized for use in 24-inch enclosures and is compatible with standard T5 HO terrarium hoods. For reptile enthusiasts in India seeking high-quality care equipment, this authentic USA-imported bulb offers reliable performance and consistent light distribution, ensuring your terrarium environment remains safe and healthy for your rainforest species.
How to use
- Install the 22-inch bulb into a compatible T5 HO terrarium lighting hood.
- Ensure the bulb is securely locked into the fixture bi-pin sockets.
- Position the fixture above the mesh top of the terrarium, ensuring no glass or plastic barriers block the UVB light.
- Replace the bulb every 12 months to maintain optimal UVB output, as light intensity degrades over time.

FAQs
What is a 5.0 UVB bulb?
A 5.0 UVB bulb provides a moderate level of ultraviolet B radiation, which is specifically calibrated for the needs of rainforest or tropical-dwelling reptiles that live in shaded or canopy-covered habitats.
Is T5 or T8 UVB better?
T5 HO (High Output) bulbs are generally considered superior to older T8 technology because they are more energy-efficient, produce more intense and consistent UVB light, and can penetrate deeper into the terrarium.
How long does a T5 UVB bulb last?
While the visible light may continue to function for longer, a T5 UVB bulb typically provides the necessary therapeutic UVB output for approximately 12 months of daily use. It is recommended to replace the bulb annually.
Are these products authentic?
Yes, all products sold by Dropy are 100 percent authentic and sourced directly from the USA to ensure the highest quality for our customers in India.
What species of reptile is this bulb for?
This 5.0 UVB bulb is ideal for tropical and rainforest species, such as crested geckos, chameleons, and other reptiles that do not require the high-intensity UVB output needed by desert-dwelling species.
