Description
Seachem CupriSorb 100ml is a high-performance synthetic chelating resin engineered to rapidly extract copper and other heavy metals from both freshwater and saltwater aquarium systems. Designed to act much faster and more efficiently than standard activated carbon, this specialized filtration media targets both free and chelated copper without leaching previously trapped elements back into the water column.
It serves as an essential tool for emergency medication removal and helps safely prepare reef aquariums for sensitive invertebrates like snails, shrimp, and corals. Over time, continuous use also helps clear out hidden copper traces leaching from gravel or rock substrates.
The resin features a clear visual indicator, changing from cream to a deep blue-black color when exhausted, and can be easily regenerated using muriatic acid for repeated use.
How to use
- Use 100 mL to treat up to 240 liters or scale based on the standard ratio of 250 mL for every 600 liters (150 US gallons) to remove up to 7,500 mg of copper.
- Place the resin inside a fine mesh filter media bag such as Seachem The Bag and position it in a high-flow area within a canister filter, chemical filtration module, box filter, or trickle filter.
- To remove undetectable substrate-leaching copper, keep CupriSorb in continuous use for at least two weeks after copper test kits read zero.
- Exhaustion is marked by a deep blue-black discoloration of the beads.
- When exhausted, soak in a non-metal container with 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of muriatic acid for 1 hour outside and away from children, rinse well, add sodium bicarbonate until foaming stops, rinse again, and the resin is ready for reuse.
