FAQs
What is a nylon insert lock nut used for?
A nylon insert lock nut, also known as a nyloc nut, is used to secure bolts and threaded fasteners in applications subject to high vibration or movement. The built-in polymer collar prevents the nut from vibrating loose over time.
What is the difference between a hex nut and a nylon lock nut?
While a standard hex nut relies entirely on external tension or thread friction to stay in place, a nylon lock nut features an internal polymer ring that grips the screw thread tightly, offering built-in anti-loosening protection without needing lock washers.
How to use a nylon lock nut?
Thread the nut onto the bolt manually until the bolt reaches the nylon ring, then use a wrench to tighten it down completely. The bolt threads will deform the nylon collar slightly, creating a tight friction lock.
Are these Shinico lock nuts authentic USA imports available on Dropy India?
Yes, these genuine Shinico fasteners are sourced directly from the United States and imported by Dropy India to provide reliable quality for Indian customers.
What type of thread size do these lock nuts feature?
These lock nuts feature standard M3 metric coarse threads designed to fit matching M3 bolts, screws, and threaded studs.
