High caliber tiny radio
This radio looks good! I work with it as portable radio around the house.What I appreciate.FM wonderful reception.Controls have a feel of grade.Sound is extremely good for the amount.AM could be better but useable.SW with a long external antenna is fairly good. (Again consider the price)What I wish was improved.Illuminated curser.External antenna jack.I have a big AM/FM in my living room so I don't need booming sound. This radio fits in nicely with my little collection. I have a Grundig travel radio plus multiple other radios both contemporary and vintage.

Outstanding radio so why did they stop making it?
First, this radio comes with a large variety of unique frequencies, SW, FM, Weather band, etc. This radio performs nicely and is fun to play with. The hand crank also takes a lot of turns but will charge the battery enough for about 5-10 minutes of emergency use when wanted. This makes it more than just an AM/FM radio to listen to. Purchased another to have at residence and one in the car. The buttons and dails may be petite or difficult to use for some but fully functional if you just read the instructions. The built in solar charger is basically to help keep a charged battery charged but will get the battery charged adequate to use in numerous hours. While the radio gets fine reception with the built in antenna, I did get XHDATA FM/SW extended external antenna for about $6.00 that greatly improves reception especially with SW reception. For a small, portable, multifunction radio, this one performs for me. I find this radio highly handy to have around. After 6 months I have not had any problems or issues. Took a day to learn the radio and I now can use all of the functions without having to refer back to the instructions. Also has Blutooth to connect to mobile devices to work with as a speaker. It has an old school analog dial for tuning but also has a digital tuning option. The Weather and SW bands are a MUST in inferior weather conditions. This radio also records and plays MP3 files with a TF card (Micro SD card) with a large storage of up to 16 GB or using a USB drive. Has a built in Solar Panel charger that takes some time to charge the battery but does the job in an emergency.

Sony 's extraordinary DSP Receiver
This little radio is effectively ready to go proper out of the box. Down side to this is that you don't get to choose the numbers for your beloved stations, not that I've been able to find at least, but they're all numbered in order so even if you forget the specific number of your preferred station, you can find it quite easily. MP3 playing through the TF/Micro SD card slot functions perfectly as well. Unlike other FM radio systems I've utilized, you can basically have a near infinite number of stations saved, and it scans, saves, and numbers them automatically. The sound craftsmanship is really solid on speaker, though through the headphone jack the volume appears to be significantly lower. It also has some other quite nice features, am pleased with a user-replaceable battery, a built in flashlight, and a repeat function for MP3 playing. All in all, wonderful portable audio device.

Luv, luv this little transistor (battery powered) radio!!!
This is a DSP radio but it convincingly tunes enjoy an aged analog radio- it's quite nice as far as this goes. This radio will not charge batteries when the cord is plugged in (this is a decent thing- it's safe to work with NIMH batteries). The LCD is nice and large. LCD has no backlight (IMHO, this is also a fine thing).Despite my criticisms, the radio is pleasant in that you can indeed tune in SW stations in the way you could on old analog radios. The tuning control gives the impression like mush (there is a string and wheel based reducer between the knob and the tuning pot, but it's too affordable). This radio is good for elderly people. But I wish it had high/low bandwidth switch in place of of tone (the bandwidth is too wide for AM and SW, but for sure the radio IC has narrower bandwidth modes), and I wish it had more SW bands to make them narrower for easier tuning. The volume control is using a linear-taper pot, but it should be audio-taper (did they run out of audio taper pots?). This makes it difficult to adjust at low volume. The SW/FM/AM switch is quite a slide switch- with some linkage to make it into a rotary switch- this is why the settings are only favor 5 degrees apart. The earphone is mono (even though the radio IC can certainly do stereo). Many cheap DSP radios are hopeless at this. The sound is fine thanks to the largish speaker and nice audio power. The controls are uncomplicated, you don't need a manual.
