I've been having trouble swallowing capsules but wanting to add magnesium glycinate to my supplement lineup to see if it helped my sleep, and Thorne is a high quality brand. I'd tried emptying some capsules I had into applesauce and quickly discovered this type of magnesium tastes *awful*, so I was very cautiously optimistic here. This powder is slightly citrus and very sweet. It does not completely cover up what almost tastes like fish but buries it pretty deeply; I found adding some additional complementary flavor (like a pinch of Propel or flavor drops) helped make it more palatable. It dissolves well in water if you stir it in. But it is SO sweet I had to use a solid 8oz of water to drink it, and that was with only 1/2 the suggested dose. Drinking a bunch of water right before bed definitely does not do much for my sleep! And even taking it earlier, just didn't really do anything for me. Jury is still out on whether magnesium glycinate is helpful, but I'll need to continue just searching for a smaller capsule version if I want to keep trying it at night.

I only need 1/16 of a teaspoon (scoop is 3.5 fifths of a teaspoon) so I only mix with water after it's in my mouth. It is super-duper-wowie-intense sour (from the citric acid) while I'm picking up the mug of water to chug it all down. After it's left my mouth with the water, the after-effect is pleasantly sweet (from the monkfruit). I might not buy this again. I love this stuff. I take 200mg before bed each night. It helps me physically wind down and drift off to sleep more easily. I haven't tried any other brands of magnesium bisglycinate but I find Thorne products to be consistently high quality (if a little bit more expensive than the alternatives). Has a bit of a weird smell to it (kinda like gym socks?) but tastes pretty good-slightly sweet, fruity. Been using it consistently for over a year now and I've never slept better!
