Product details
Description
The United Scientific ELFL01 Flask Form Electroscope is an essential physics laboratory instrument engineered to detect and demonstrate the presence of static electricity. Housed within a durable 250 milliliter clear borosilicate glass flask, this precision device protects delicate internal components from air drafts while offering clear visibility during classroom demonstrations.
The apparatus features a secure rubber stopper insulating a central metal rod, topped with a convenient charging terminal and equipped with an alligator clip suspending sensitive aluminum foil leaves. When an electrical charge makes contact with the top terminal, it travels downward into the chamber, causing the hanging leaves to diverge through electrostatic repulsion.
Ideal for middle and high school science educators, physics students, and laboratory settings, this authentic United Scientific instrument simplifies complex electrical concepts into engaging visual experiments.
How to use
- Insert the metal rod securely into the rubber stopper and place it firmly atop the 250 milliliter borosilicate glass flask.
- Ensure the sensitive aluminum foil leaves are suspended cleanly from the alligator clip inside the chamber.
- Bring a charged object, such as a rubbed plastic rod or balloon, into direct contact with the top metal terminal knob.
- Observe the aluminum leaves inside the flask diverge as the electrical charge travels down the conducting rod.

FAQs
Are you looking for replacement parts (like spare aluminum leaves)?
While spare parts can sometimes be sourced separately, maintaining care during handling and storage helps prevent damage to the delicate aluminum leaves inside the borosilicate glass flask.
Do you need a step-by-step procedure to perform experiments with this device?
Yes, experiments typically involve charging an external rod through friction, touching it to the top metal terminal, and observing the divergence of the internal aluminum leaves caused by electrostatic repulsion.
What is the capacity of the flask electroscope?
The United Scientific ELFL01 electroscope features a standard 250 milliliter borosilicate glass flask designed to safely house the internal charging components.
