FAQs
How do I use Urnex Cafiza cleaning powder?
Use up to 1/2 teaspoon of powder with a blind filter in your portafilter. Run the brew cycle for 10 seconds and stop for 10 seconds, repeating five times. Remove and rinse the portafilter, repeat the cycle five more times without powder, and then brew and discard one shot of espresso.
Is Cafiza good for descaling?
Cafiza is specifically formulated to remove coffee oils and organic residue from espresso machine brewing paths, group heads, and valves. It is not designed to remove mineral scale, which requires a dedicated descaling agent.
How long does Cafiza take to work?
When used during a standard backflush cycle, the cleaning process takes only a few minutes of active running and resting intervals. For soaking removable components like portafilters and filter baskets, soaking them for 30 minutes to an hour effectively dissolves caked-on oils.
