How to use

good sized jar, dog likes them OK
I have a dog that is allergic to ... well, apparently, everything. We think maybe it's the grass/outdoor pollen that makes him itch the most. So I've been trying various supplements to try to help with his itching and allergies. This one is a good size jar of little heart shaped chewy treats. They seem to be coated in some kind of powdery flavoring. Based on his weight, my dog needs two of these a day. He gets excited about treats but wasn't sure about these at first - he spit the first one out. But after I convinced him to eat the first one, he was good to go and eats them just fine now, so they must taste OK. (My other dog won't have anything to do with them, but she is super picky and these aren't really for her anyway - I just give her something different so she gets a treat too.) We have only been using these for a few days, so too soon to see dramatic results, but he does seem to be scratching less. I'll keep giving him these and will get more if it seems to really help with his comfort level over time.

So Happy to Have These!
As with any nutritional supplements, it will take time for me to know how effective these are. This is what I know now 1) Wellness is consistently listed as a top recommendation by vets year after year 2) they have been around for almost 100 years and 3) my picky eaters love these supplements. One of my dogs had allergies even as a puppy. Overtime, her allergies have worsened and now she gets an allergy shot twice a year. These shots are expensive ($80 each) and expected to be effective for 30 days, which gets us through the worst of the season, and then I add an allergy supplement to her food for the remainder of the year. She is now in her 10th year and I was planning to add another shot or two for the year. But, I have had to use a competitor's supplement for this because Wellness did not make one. They seemed to work ~okay. I compared my existing supplement to Wellness Shield and while some of the active ingredients overlap, most do not. My expectation is that this Immune Shield will keep her allergies in check better than the other brand. The best part? The price is exactly the same as what I currently pay for the other brand. If they don't work, I will come back here and update my review. Because the only thing I hate more than wasting money is to see my pup uncomfortable!
