  A Probiotic Bottle With a Lot of Empty Real Estate

  I've been looking at more probiotic options lately, and this one caught my attention because it is a single-strain formula instead of the usual long list of probiotic names that starts to look like someone spilled Scrabble tiles on the label. I will not pretend I know the deep science behind Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-G18-511, but the label makes it clear that this is the specific strain they are focusing on and for some good reason.The capsules themselves are easy enough to take. They are off-white, medium sized, and did not have any smell that I could detect. That is always a nice start with supplements, because some bottles make you regret opening them before breakfast.The bottle came with an intact inner foil seal and a desiccant packet inside, so the capsules were dry and loose. No clumping, no broken capsules, and no loose powder mess inside the bottle. I do appreciate that kind of thing, especially with capsules that are supposed to stay dry.The bottle size is a little silly, though. Once opened, it looked about one-third full, which means this takes up precious real estate it doesn't need to in my home. It is not a functional problem, but it does make the package feel larger than it needs to be. Speaking of storage, the label says you will get best results if you store it in the refrigerator. Who doesn't want best results? So, this will mean this will be in my crowded fridge.The expiration and lot information are on the bottom of the dark bottle, which is not my favorite choice when the printing is pale gray and runs across an indentation in the dark plastic, so it partly disappears unless you tilt the bottle just right under the light. I could make out that mine expires in 2028, so there is plenty of shelf life left for a one-month supply, but I do wish that information were easier to read.The label says it is distributed by a company in Chicago, but I did not see a clear manufacturing location on the visible packaging. That is not unusual, but it is something I notice more now with supplements. For something I am going to consume, I always prefer when the manufacturing location is easy to find.Overall, this looks cleanly packaged and the capsules are tidy, odorless, and manageable. The desiccant packet, intact seal, and long expiration window were all positives for me. The oversized bottle and hard-to-read date stamp were the two things that made me pause.

  Very effective with high quality ingredients and thorough testing

  I have been waiting for a probiotic that really works, and now it's here. I really like that it has 100 billion CFU high strength single strain probiotics with FOS and is delayed release. FOS are Fructooligosaccharides or non-digestible carbohydrates (prebiotic fibers). They act as food for beneficial gut bacteria. Because of the strength of ingredients, it's intended for adult use only and not for those pregnant or nursing. I keep mine refrigerated so that the prebiotics and probiotics stay potent.Ingredients are mainly: lactobacillus plantarum Lp-G18-511 and fructooligosaccharides. The pre and probiotics are highly concentrated and also highly effective. The supplement contains high levels of purity and bioactive compounds. My tummy and digestive trach felt amazing while taking these. I really noticed a difference in my wellbeing. It has helped with my regularity and also reduced bloating and gas. Most importantly, the pre and probiotics are supposed to reach the gut, with delayed release and acid-resistant strains, unlike some other pro/prebiotics. I take the supplement with food as directed and have two capsules a day. There is a 60-day supply.The ingredients are supposed to be natural, and the capsules are vegetarian and don't have any unpleasant taste. I feel good that the product has a certificate of analysis and is lab tested for quality with third party testing. These supplements are great for digestive health and support gut flora and heathy bacteria.

  Single strain probiotic, very effective for me

  I love this! My husband and I have used probiotics as needed for decades. We've tried over a dozen different brands and formulations. I've tended to like probiotics that have a variety of bacteria, since our natural gut flora has a variety. So I don't plan to use this product exclusively; I still want to be able to introduce or supplement other kinds of bacteria. But this lactobacillus plantarum seems to be working very well for me. I will resist the urge to tell you everything I've read about it; it's not my place to give you health advice! Do your own reading, which is pretty easy. I started with Wikipedia, which has a dedicated article about lactobacillus plantarum. I like what I read there. This arrived for my review right at a time I was experiencing some severe digestive issues. Let's just say I needed to stay near the bathroom for several days! I started taking two of these daily, and after several days my gut was much happier and settled. Was it because of this product? Obviously I can't say; I didn't have a second "control me" to compare to. But I know within several days I was back to normal, able to eat whatever I chose, and things "down there" were back to normal. This seems reasonably priced for a high quality probiotic supplement.
