  Florida Heat Approved Ruffwear Cooling Harness

  I absolutely love Ruffwear gear for my dogs, so I was really excited to try this cooling harness during our recent stretch of 90- 95°F Florida heat. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, walking, and hanging around the water, so keeping my dogs comfortable in the heat is always a priority. The evaporative cooling design actually works surprisingly well once the vest is soaked down. I found the easiest method was either pouring cool water directly over my dog before our walks or letting him lay in shallow water for a minute to fully saturate the harness. It is super adjustable within the listed size range, but make sure you measure your dog and check the size chart, since brands and styles can vary. Once adjusted, it is easy to use and doesn't impede my dogs' mobility. I don't need to use the anti-pull front ring, but I did check to be sure it is well attached (it is).The light blue and white color combination looks fantastic in person and feels very fitting for summer adventures. Even after rolling around outside, dirt and mud rinsed off pretty easily which I appreciated because my dogs somehow always manage to find the messiest spots possible. Like every Ruffwear product I own, the stitching, buckles, and attachment points feel extremely durable and well thought out. It feels secure without looking bulky, and my dog seemed comfortable wearing it for extended periods without rubbing or irritation.This definitely feels like premium dog gear, so the quality well matches the price. Between kayaking trips, hiking trails, and everyday Florida heat, I can already tell this will get a ton of use in our house. If you regularly spend time outdoors with your dogs in hot weather, this is honestly one of the more useful Ruffwear products I've tried. It keeps my dog cooler, looks great, and feels built to last through plenty of adventures.

  Ruffwear cooling dog harness is good by me. I pre-measured my dog per the guide and ordered a small for my female Boxer. She is still growing but the small should fit fine once she's full grown with some adjustments. She is 48 lbs currently. Compared to many harness, I would describe this a bigger fit, or it covers more of the dogs body both around the chest and on the back. This would explain why it has 2 clips on each side that are adjustable. The adjustability wasn't the easiest to work with, but do-able.The top is a mesh line material and light in color. I have tried the harness in both hot and cooler weather. I would say that when it's cooler out, it may actually keep the dog warmer because of its size. I also wet it as the instructions stated. It will definitely stay more wet in the sun than a traditional harness, although you will have to re-wet it in hot conditions. It kept the fur under the harness just a little damp. The downside is your dog has that wet dog smell.Because of its lighter color, it does show more dirt, so I am hoping this will wash ok. Overall, the quality appears to be solid. My pup is also a puller so we utilize the chest ring for her leash. Because the fit it good, we are able to control her better than our other harness that is too loose in the chest. She'll still pull out arm off on the back rings.It's a decent looking harness. I'm hoping they will have more color options as it gain traction.

  Great Ruffwear quality in an evaporative harness designed for hot weather.

  Whenever I am given an opportunity to order a Ruffwear harness I take it because I know from past experience that their quality is unsurpassed. Many years ago I ordered a cooling vest from Ruffwear for an elderly dog who had breathing issues in hot weather. It was really a valuable vest, although a little cumbersome for her to wear. Still it did the job.So, when I saw that Ruffwear now makes a cooling harness, I knew it would be perfect for providing relief for my dog for warm weather. It is just perfect for her and for cooling because of the extra coverage underneath on her stomach and chest. The harness works by evaporative cooling so that just wetting it with water gives the dog a way to cool off. The material used in this harness is very lightweight and has some padding, no doubt for water absorption. Although the weather is not hot here right now, I expect this to be a perfect solution, especially for travel to warm places.It also occurs to me that the opposite could be true with this harness. The thick padding seems as if it would provide extra warmth without a sweater in cool and cold weather used as is, without wetting it down. As is the case with all Ruffwear products this is made to last and for heavy use. It has a strong handle on top, adjustments at the shoulder, and two more straps along the back with clips on both sides, so it is easy to put on by slipping it over her head. What's makes this different from other Ruffwear harnesses is that the bottom piece is substantially bigger, providing cooling where dogs like it the most!The harness has a pleasant gray mottled pattern which I selected because our pup is a blue heeler. As with all Ruffwear products it has a metal ring on top, and a loop on the chest as well as a small loop on the back of the top. Ruffwear thinks of everything!
