Cozy, Practical, and Surprisingly Useful Beyond the Car

This is a great cold-weather layer that functions more like a wearable blanket than a typical dog jacket.I take my 62 lb Goldendoodle with me often, and in colder months I sometimes leave her in the car briefly while I run errands. This poncho has been perfect for keeping her warm without needing anything complicated. It slips on easily and covers her well from neck to tail (head stays free), and the adjustable leg loops help keep it from shifting around. My dog seems to enjoy wearing it and it stays in place. From previous purchases, I trust the Ruffwear brand and this is no exception. It's slightly puffy and lightweight but nicely insulated, so it provides real warmth without being bulky. I also brought it to my cabin "up north," where floors can get quite cold, and it worked just as well as a cozy layer for her to lie in or on.The red with orange trim is a bit of an unusual color combination, but for something this functional, it's not exactly a dealbreaker. This is a really useful and versatile apiece-great for car use, chilly indoor spaces, and likely camping as well.

A True Game-Changer for Outdoor Adventures!

If you love camping, hiking, or cold-weather adventures with your dog, this is hands-down one of the best investment pieces of gear you can make. From the very first night out, it was clear this poncho was designed for real comfort. My dog tends to get chilly as soon as the sun goes down, even with a small dog blanket. But the Palisades Poncho kept him cozy and warm when temps dipped into the 30s. The insulated panels trap warmth effectively without weighing him down.Ruffwear's craftsmanship really shows here. The outer shell feels rugged and water-resistant, like it could handle overnight dew, light rain, or windy conditions without complaint. Inside, the insulation is plush but not bulky, and the stitching is reinforced in all the high-stress areas. I could tell this isn't some flimsy accessory - it's a serious piece of outdoor gear. The poncho is thoughtfully designed. The way it drapes over your dog gives excellent coverage, and the adjustable components help customize the fit without restricting movement. My dog didn't try to shake it off, which is a huge plus. He actually seemed to relax into it! It also packs down really small and slips into its own stash pocket, which made backpacking with limited space way easier than lugging a bulky dog blanket.Putting it on and taking it off is simple and quick, even when your dog is excited or in an unfamiliar outdoor setting. Once secured, it stayed in place through play, short walks, and rest. Cleaning was straightforward too - just a wipe down and a quick air dry after muddy, dewy mornings. While I bought it for camping, this has become part of our cold-weather routine at home as well. If we're heading out for chilly evening strolls, this poncho makes the experience noticeably more comfortable for my dog.Nothing is perfect - if your dog is extremely picky about clothing, there's a small adjustment period, especiallythe leg straps. But mine got used to it within minutes. The Ruffwear Palisades Dog Sleep Poncho is a premium product that truly delivers on its promise. It's warm, well-built, packable, and genuinely makes outdoor adventures more enjoyable for both my dog and me. For anyone who camps, hikes, or spends time outside in cooler weather with their pup, this is an amazing piece of gear that's worth every cent.

  Love it!

Cozy, Practical, and Actually Gets UsedI've tried a few dog blankets/jackets before, and most of them end up sitting in the gear pile after a couple trips. This one? It actually gets used. The first thing I noticed is how well it fits-secure without being restrictive. My dog can move, curl up, or sprawl out without fighting it, which is rare. It's clearly designed by people who understand that dogs don't just stand still looking cute-they roll, stretch, and do their thing. The warmth factor is solid. It's not overly bulky, but it does a great job keeping my dog comfortable during colder nights, especially when we're camping or hanging outside longer than expected. The inside has that soft, insulated feel that makes it more like a wearable blanket than just a shell.Durability is exactly what you'd expect from Ruffwear-it handles dirt, movement, and repeated use without falling apart or looking worn out after a few trips. One thing I really appreciate is how easy it is to throw on and take off. No complicated straps or wrestling match required, which matters more than you'd think when your dog is excited or impatient. If I had to nitpick, it's not meant for heavy rain-it's more about warmth and comfort than full weather protection. But for what it's designed to do, it nails it.Bottom line: if your dog camps, travels, or just likes being warm without being restricted, this is a legit upgrade-not just another "cute but useless" pet accessory.

Must have camping gear for the adventure dog

I got this for my Lab mix for camping trips and cooler evenings outside, and it's a really neat design. Unlike a regular dog coat that shifts around while they're sleeping, this stays in place even when my dog changes positions or curls up. It keeps their whole body covered instead of just their back. The material feels well made with a durable outer shell, while the inside is soft and cozy. It also packs down surprisingly small, so it doesn't take up much room with the rest of our camping gear. I really like that you don't have to completely remove it for potty breaks-the rear opening makes those late-night trips much easier.Overall, this is a great option if you camp, travel, or spend time outdoors with your dog. It's well thought out, easy to use, and keeps my Lab mix warm and comfortable. It's a bit of a specialty item, and is a bit on the pricier side but for anyone who enjoys outdoor adventures with their dog, it's definitely worth considering
